ahh nice the forum is back online! :love heart:
@Fallen777 I am afraid I dont get such model (super slim) because they dont have the processor I am looking for, hence not a single board on my "scrap yard"
Cheers

TL;DR:
I put a 90nm RSX into a CECH-2003 Slim - DYN-001 motherboard.
It obviously works ... but don’t do this
Alright, sharing a mildly cursed mad scientist experiment I finally decided to document share this one.
The "crazyness"
Reverse-Frankie: installing a 90nm RSX into a Slim...
@Shin_Amon1991
I believe A0805FFF is not a clear cut problem with the console NOR.
It can be (on my experience) related to BGA on the CELL and maybe some other issues.
I quickly found at least one reference in our forum about this...
@Erim,
Just to confirm with you: is the Bluray drive plugged in when you attempt the update/firmware installation?
Another point, a small USB drive is "prefered" (I had issues trying to use bigger size ones, nowadays I have some old ones 8GB and 16GB formated as FAT32 that works on all the...
@GiGaMe
Althought the 2124 can be related to the HDMI encoder and 2022 with the MultiAV chip, I guess in this ocassion the 1002 is more like to indicate the fault here: the NEC Tokins on the VDD of the RSX - the reason for my "guess diagnostic" is the lag you mentioned above.
Although...
@iVirtualZero unless a component that is no longer avaible is damaged, I guess everything is repairable :chuncky: (wellllllll damaged layers in a multilayer motherboard is a diferent discusstion though :bipolar:).
But on all seriousness, making some basic messurements when the board is powered...
Hey all
I just would like to contribute with some SSD I've been using and installing on many consoles I've "revived".
I have installed without issues (so far! and fingers crossed):
Integral V Series S 240GB SSD - 8 (eight) installed
MSI SPATIUM 480GB SSD - 5 (five) installed
Integral V...
Q6009 (on the schematics) is a UMH2NTN from Rohm.
From the datasheet, it is a NPN+NPN Dual Digital Transistor (Bias Resistor Built-in Transistor).
I am not sure about the packaging size ( 3 sizes available - SOT-563 , SOT-363 and SOT-457 - I believe you can check on the board the exact things...
I don't believe Q6200 would be responsible to power on the BD drive (it is for the 1.2V VDDR).
Q6009 is just another "FET like" transistor (edited: they are not FET, they are two NPN transistors) in a chip (IC) package - it is located very close to Q6010:
I think you are well clued up...
I had a quick look on the full diagram and assuming there is no power at all on the drive, the initial checks would be the power rails for sure; from the diagram, the connector that provides power to the Blu-ray is CN3209.
It supplies 12V and 5V:
Those direct voltages come from Q6010...
Ahh ok, thanks for clarifying that the drive is indeed married back with the current board.
In that case, indeed a more in dept troubleshooting is needed - some of other members with huge experience repairing these boards can deffinetively suggest somethings to check prior you send it to...
Hi there @iVirtualZero
Great re-work you did on the board.
Those components on the link are are in the Bluray drive board (I believe people refer that as a "daughter board"), for instance , see on the wiki for one of the boards...
When I get any PS3 consoles, I usually replace all the NEC Tokin capacitors, even if there are no error codes like 1001 or 1002. Taking them apart, delidding, and replacing all the NEC Tokins has become my standard procedure for these older consoles.
On the subject of NEC Tokins, I often see...
