The guy that helped me with the scope said my "signal" looked really clean with the adjacent vias connected but much more noise when GND attached to larger GND plane... Yeah, ~1.29V at plateau, then back to zero. As far as my hookups, I didn't reference any dwg's or diagrams, I just tested...
squeept- I think I know the brief voltage discussion you 'member, I looked thru my initial screencaps I took as I read this thread, but don't have it at the moment...I believe there was a mention of ~just ask the bitcoin miner rig guys~ or something like that, all I had was this from pg48 on...
Heres sum pics. Only O-scope pic I accidentally got looks like autoscaling on, ps3 with power on, ready for [always failed] boot. When I tried to boot, the "signal" would shoot off upscreen and disappear until ylod kicks in, and it falls back down.
RIP-Felix! You done did hurt me feelings...
I attached leads(small gauge single strand on vias >.5" long) under the rsx and cell(opposite side of the board of chips) to very adjacent vias(Vdd,GND) and tried O-scope measurements. I don't know what the hell I'm doing, using suggested settings for time/div and volts/div didn't help with...
small update. After a few days I revisited my last failure to fix the ylod. I started with check resistivity between gnd and power rails for each chip. The cell side was showing a short (~0.25ohms). SO, I removed the little daughter cap boards I made from the chip side, still shorted, then I...
...Oh man, now we're getting to some good, techy stuff. I told myself I'd take the night off from any more repair attempts, but couldn't resist finding out if replacing all nec's would finally allow boot or not... I removed two of my caps from each group I had installed yesterday. It went...
Does this https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slva214a/slva214a.pdf have any relevance for us? Sorry if dumb question...I don't think I'll have any problem removing any of the caps I already installed, I also have a haako iron that's like a huge pair of hot tweezers for removal...If you can give me a...
WOAH!,sqeept's back!
ElGris!- Alright, so for quick testing of if ylod is gone or not I can have just the fan in the bottom of the case, mobo sitting atop it, and psu plugged in? I wouldn't have to have the top metal sheild with the two CLAMPS over rsx and cell installed, correct? what about...
Which question does "yeah" answer? Yeah, the 1.06 included all fixes from 1.01-1.05, or yeah it won't mess anything up? 1.06 isn't the first one, 1.01 is...
.
Finally got me caps in the mail. Had time to get started tonight with the CECHH machine from my prev. post. First experiment is to try strictly the tantalums to replace the four nec's i removed from it's backside. I started with 12 per chip, still had a fast YLOD and didn't boot. Tried...
Thanks for the zip of these updates. One dumb question...Does the "oldest" 1.06 include all the updates 1.01-1.05? I am running just teh non updated retail version on cfw, can I update from retail version straight to v1.06 and not mess anything up or miss any fixes?
-Chumdiddy1, good to hear your enthusiasm for achieving boot! I hope to join you soon, mine's been in a box in parts for over a decade, I think it's still on ofw3.40!
I forgot to mention the pictures and cap and resistance measurements from above are for my CECHH machine...Haven't worked on...
I still have concerns over needing reball, as I have fast ylod and heating caps still won't allow booting. I partially disassembled, then attempted booting whilst pressing HARD over cell, then rsx, still fast ylod either way. SO, finally removed both pairs of caps under emi shield(opposite...
Thanks for the info. RIP-Felix, can't have enough. I REALLY like what Workz_777 did, as I feel a straight jumper cable(if needed) is counter productive to what we're trying to achieve(is that the antikythera device in his avatar or something?). When I finally do attempt this, I'll be building...
