PS3 Fault finding YLOD with the SYSCON - First steps and Error reporting

That melted plastics is probably from a "oven reflow" trick. The temperature sensor will shut the console down way before such temperature is reached. And unfortunately without a proper fix it's almost guaranteed 3034 will come back

PS3 Fault finding YLOD with the SYSCON - First steps and Error reporting

Before it turns off does the fan goes turbo mode? A couple of thermal pads usually won't overheat that quickly. Those are on the buck converter ICs and/or inductors. Unless you haven't properly repaste the heatsink or forget to install the bracket. If your AC can allow the PS3 run a significant...

    PS3 No Standby LED DYN-001 (CECH2002A) questions

Hi, I think I got the same symptoms more than once. There's a Slim CECH2002A which doesn't appears to be alive at all. No standby red led. Checked the PSU, output correct 5.5V and powergood signal. Checked the Syscon(SW2-301) crystal, 32.7k Hz and a 19.92M Hz all looking great Checked the...

PS3 Console Total Powered On Time (WebMAN Mod 1.47.25.3+ feature)

I can try finding it. But from my experience, sometimes when you swap the coin battery for a new one, and somehow it confuses this data calculation. I've seen one with reasonable uptime, around a couple of hundred days, but after I done the battery swapping and final assembly then go to webman...

    PS3 Problems with HDMI Display

EMI filter is just a tiny component that looks a bit like a pf level capacitor. It's found closed to the HDMI connector. Every single pin to the HDMI should have a EMI filter directly connect to it.

PS3 Super Slim 4002C no power and keeps blowing up MOSFET after replacing

Update: today I tried to replace the high and low mosfets together. I also sprayed thin rosin on the surface to see potential heat up/shorts. Turns out it’s working! Maybe last time the mosfet i used was also faulty, though I did check before soldering. Anyway, thank you for the help! Sent...

PS3 Super Slim 4002C no power and keeps blowing up MOSFET after replacing

Pretty sure those MLCC or electrolytics are not shorted. The problem is I cannot figure out why the replaced mosfet get blown up. Checked the datasheet and there should be no way so easily, otherwise the current will above the PSU's limit and given the PSU outputs proper 12V. Any chance because...

PS3 Super Slim 4002C no power and keeps blowing up MOSFET after replacing

I came across a 4002C motherboard NPX-001 that turns it self off immediately with no red light. It appears to be having shorts on 12V power rail so I found a mosfet on RSX power rail is short so I replaced it with a donor board's mosfet, in the same place. Assembled and turned on, for the first...

PS2 PlayStation 2 MECHACON Adjustment Program (PMAP)

Hi, just found PMAP recently added slim dragon based mechacon support. But the test point information is very limited, only 7000X series service manual is there. How did you guys figure out the test points? I mean GND and 3.3V is pretty straightforward but what's the methodology finding TX, RX...

Need some advice on this SCPH-77002 with no video or audio

So I bought this faulty PS2 slim 77002(motherboard GH-051-12) just for the fun repairing it. The seller does say it has no video or audio signal at all. The actual picture I see is it turns on with green LED on, and the screen gets signal but stays black. If I put CD/DVD in it does spin but...

    PS3 Problems with HDMI Display

You can refer to the CECHA model's service manual. The thermal sensor parts hardly changed. For the specific sensor IC, I have the link in my original post: https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tmp411.pdf?ts=1660445957077&ref_url=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.ti.com%252Fproduct%252FTMP411 Again, GLOD is...
