PS3 Super slim PS3 shutting down 3 sec after booting

You would have to test the wifi plug on the board to confirm that for your console, but if you have a friend Well it was for me lol... maybe I'm wrong... the only way to see if it's like mine is to open it up and see if the middle pin of the wifi plug is ground with a multimeter... only the...

PS3 Super slim PS3 shutting down 3 sec after booting

You've got the same problem as me with my superslim bud... red light, then green... then nothing, completely off... In my case it is the wifi module is cooked (pretty sure, haven't tried replacing it yet)... If I test the board, I have a short where the wifi antenna plugs into the board...

PS3 Super slim PS3 shutting down 3 sec after booting

Thanks for the reply... I actually gave that a go already, but it was no joy unfortunately... There's no doubt the main board has a short in my case, so I think I know what's going on there...

PS3 Super slim PS3 shutting down 3 sec after booting

In my case, there is no beep, the console just powers completely off... Doesn't sound like the same thing, but I'm certainly no expert... It does sound like from your description that maybe there is a capacitor in your power supply that is on it's last legs... That's the only thing I can think...

PS3 (Fault Finding) Wifi/Bluetooth failure leading to dead console PS3 Super Slim

Wow, I hope not... I would have no idea how to dump or reprogram an eprom... I know there are videos out about dumping/reprogramming eproms for the optical drive, but I can't find any on this topic... I'm actually having trouble sourcing the wifi module here in Australia, the only ones I can...

PS3 (Fault Finding) Wifi/Bluetooth failure leading to dead console PS3 Super Slim

I have to wait at least a week or two for a new wifi module, so I will definitely be trying to power up the console once I've removed the components while I'm waiting... Just to satisfy my curiosity!

PS3 (Fault Finding) Wifi/Bluetooth failure leading to dead console PS3 Super Slim

Thanks for the advice... I wasn't going to worry about changing it, but I have already got new regulators, so I will definitely take your advice and change both... Also the second hand wifi modules I've found online here are 20-30 aus$... I really don't want to replace with a new module, only...

PS3 (Fault Finding) Wifi/Bluetooth failure leading to dead console PS3 Super Slim

Ok..... Disappointing update now that I have my multimeter... I've got 5 volts getting to the regulator... Unfortunately I have a steady 1.8 volts after the reg... so it seems according to the meter, the regulator is doing it's job just fine... When I tested the plugs where the wifi/bluetooth...

    PS3 Syscon fault codes

I wonder if these repeating 4322/3034 errors are being recorded on the syscon chip when the console gets powered up... and then just goes dead. Pretty sure (haven't tested yet) there's a short on the board with the regulator to the wifi, causing the power off... and it would explain the same...

PS3 (Fault Finding) Wifi/Bluetooth failure leading to dead console PS3 Super Slim

I Yeah, just the way that whole module is made up of different parts might make it a wise decision not to heat it up to solder melting temps from above... I've ordered the ams1117 resistors for my console, so I'll let you know in a week or so what happens there... I'm expecting the wifi...

PS3 (Fault Finding) Wifi/Bluetooth failure leading to dead console PS3 Super Slim

Wow, that's a good vid... It seems hard but do-able, but that reflow is a new one... I've never seen someone heat the board from beneath before...

    PS3 Syscon fault codes

Hey, thank you for the reply... This is literally the first console I've read the syscon chip on, so I'm an utter noob... I noted on the first page of your thread, that a 3034 could be a dried solder ball on the rsx... But the pdf I found says a 3034 error is a cell be error... Is that right...

That video is very helpful... makes replacing that regulator seem do-able... I'm definitely buying a multimeter this week and having a go at seeing if I can locate a short on that regulator... The posts seem to suggest that the wifi/bt module may not necessarily be cooked after that regulator...

    PS3 Syscon fault codes

Hey, totally agree... there's a genuine use case for honest people... I'm thinking of installing hen on my ps3's just for the temps and fan control myself... But it's also obviously used by heaps of people to pirate games etc, in fact that's why they have it installed is my point... The software...
