Hi I stumbled on this old thread and wanted to contribute.
My BC PS3 CECHC04 has the Datecode 8C. After further investigation I also found out that my console was refurbished with the 40nm RSX by Sony.
I was not able to find a BC console on the internet with a more recent Datecode than this.

I'll have to add, this was not the fan speed in game, it was the fan speed when I exited. Fan speed in game is probably at 37% or 40%.
Could you explain what you by the thermal profile has been rewritten? Sounds very interesting :)
