PS3 Fault finding YLOD with the SYSCON - First steps and Error reporting

I'd really suggest trying booting/powering on the board using syscon and seeing where that gets you (and checking the errors it produces, if any). I also suggest leaving the UART wires soldered on for later use :)

PS3 Fault finding YLOD with the SYSCON - First steps and Error reporting

I just don't understand how the pwr board could be powered if the flat cable (powering it) is not connected to it ... You only measured the potential between an unpowered pwr board (floating) and a powered main board. Connect the flat cable back again and then measure the two outermost pins of...

PS3 Fault finding YLOD with the SYSCON - First steps and Error reporting

Well, in my case the flat cable was bad – the blue bit is torn off and so it wasn't really in contact with the connector pins. I don't quite understand how you measured 5V if you removed the cable but if the power board actually receives 5V, then it's fine. Remember, you can always turn the...

PS3 Fault finding YLOD with the SYSCON - First steps and Error reporting

What about the power board flat cable? Is the power board (the board with the power on and eject switches) powered, can you measure 5V on it?

    PS3 (Research/Experimental) - NEC/TOKIN Capacitors Replacement - YLOD

Sorry, I can't edit my previous post. So, I was able to find what the problem was in my case. The 200k pull-up R6018 was missing. I replaced it and now the system boots up. Later, when I was thinking how come it's missing, I figured I must have tore it off when I was sanding the GND edge around...

PS3 Fault finding YLOD with the SYSCON - First steps and Error reporting

    Sorry, I didn't have time before. Here are my resistance values: RSX_VDDIO: 70 Ω FBVDDQ: 139 Ω RSX_PLL: 3.19 kΩ RSX_VDDC: 1.7 Ω VDDR: 179 Ω VDDA: 3.8 Ω YC_RC_VDDIO: 12.6 Ω MC2_VDDIO: 15.9 kΩ BE_VDDC: 1.8 Ω BE_PLL: 276 kΩ VDD_MEM: 15.7 Ω A couple of your values seem a bit low ... Note that I...

    PS3 (Research/Experimental) - NEC/TOKIN Capacitors Replacement - YLOD

Hmm, I suppose the PSU really is dying. The 5V voltage drops really quickly when I load it. At 0.5 A (the APS-227 is rated to 3A at 5V) it's already below 2.5V. That can't work ...

    PS3 (Research/Experimental) - NEC/TOKIN Capacitors Replacement - YLOD

Hi, guys, I also started acting before bumping (pun intended :D) into your posts and findings, @RIP-Felix. :cold: Although these posts of yours might not have been there yet. Or they might have just come out, I don't know. So, I bought a CECHC04 about three years or so ago and it actually...
