I have a few playstation 3 I can donate for testing one I recently updated to 4.91 and I have 3 others on route not sure which fw is on them but I'll know tomorrow night if interested just drop me a DM I would love to help support the cause

i tried this on my system it didn't brick it, it sees HFW update it does its thing then it goes to install it but data corrupted message appears, it was worth a shot and thanks for sharing this :)

my issue was i loaded a game and it asked to update after the update my jb was bricked and i had to install 4.91 i have older ps3 that should be downgradeable but it wont even let me downgrade it with a clean hdd installed it still insists the 4.91 firm/software

that was the only way to fix mine sadly now i have to wait DO NOT UPDATE TO 4.91 it will break and give this error i had to go to sony to download the complete system software i couldn't even downgrade it would not let me

i did this same thing on accident i used the ps3 usb i originally modded with you can not downgrade for the life of it i went to sony and downloaded complete install and loaded in ps3/update on usb and after a few attempts i am running 4.91 :(
