PS3 Fault finding YLOD with the SYSCON - First steps and Error reporting

Hello, I need help in figuring out what's wrong with my COK-002 frankenstein. The history is: I got only a motherboard with what seems to be moisture residue. I began by soaking the motherboard in IPA and cleaning the worst parts of damage, though it definitely looked better than it seemed -...

PS3 Fault finding YLOD with the SYSCON - First steps and Error reporting

I did some tests on that motherboard, washed it a couple of times and even got somewhere. This board is still very fussy, but at this point I sometimes have sync signal on HDMI and 14FF error on syscon (earlier 3010). I also noticed that the RSX/CELL temps are 0x0110 and 0x002c respecively, I...

PS3 Fault finding YLOD with the SYSCON - First steps and Error reporting

Hi again, This time I got another cok-002 mobo for equivalent of ~2 beers, only downside is that backside looks like it was sitting in a barn for 10 years and I'm not sure what it needs to be working again. It has only 425 hours on it, but almost 1500 power on cycles and spits out thermal...

PS3 Fault finding YLOD with the SYSCON - First steps and Error reporting

Well, I must have been cursed at some point. I resoldered the RSX onto another board aaaand it works! Sort-of. Kinda looks like a GLOD, but at the same time it might be corrupted OS, I don't know what was done to this board, but when I got it it had no back RSX NECs. Don't know why, but after a...

PS3 Fault finding YLOD with the SYSCON - First steps and Error reporting

I use probably same butter knife as you, but this was my first touch of the 40nm chip, I've read that it was harder, but not THAT much, I mean the IHS literally flew up and hit the celling, so it went about 1.5 meters up. I was just not prepared for that. Next time I won't even try delliding, I...

PS3 Fault finding YLOD with the SYSCON - First steps and Error reporting

This board is a REAL pain. This time: [SSM] state: 0000 -> 0101 Bringup Mode #0 (0xFF) [SSM] ssmCb_OnStartingBePowOn() called. [SSM] First Boot. PS3 Fault finding YLOD with the SYSCON - First steps and Error reporting

Well, today I took off the RSX aaaand... one of Nx or Px solder balls was just missing. I just hope that's the only thing wrong with it, mobo besides these little resistors on which RSX sits looks like new, looks promising so far.

PS3 Fault finding YLOD with the SYSCON - First steps and Error reporting

I already have reflown it 2 times, well to be honest first time I soldered it I slightly knocked it while the solder was still melted and it shifted. One hour of way too excessive cursing on my clumsiness later I have reballed it and then reflown it again (reflow was after 3034). Now that I...

PS3 Fault finding YLOD with the SYSCON - First steps and Error reporting

Hello, My second try at creating a COK-002 frankestein (1st was a success, but with 65nm, this time I tried 40nm) failed, but I'm wondering what went wrong here. bringup [SSM] state: 0000 -> 0101 Bringup Mode #0 (0xFF) [SSM] ssmCb_OnStartingBePowOn() called. [SSM] Bringup mode ...

PS3 Fault finding YLOD with the SYSCON - First steps and Error reporting

As you mentioned this I thought of a physically cracked die, but that does not appear to be the case with these chips. When I got it back into the case and applied medium to somewhat high pressure with my hand all over the RSX area and monitored syscon output - it always goes from state 0103 to...

PS3 Fault finding YLOD with the SYSCON - First steps and Error reporting

I've found a picture of this board with resistances (only on the back side) and they all seem perfect. I wonder if it is a problem with mounting pressure; I've only tried this trick with CECHG consoles, but comparing clamp screws from CECHC, CECHG, CECHK seem to be slightly different in thread...

Help with fully dead CECHC04 motherboard

Yeah, it's IC6005, I took mine from SEM-001 motherboard. Make sure you check for blown fuses first, there aren't that many to check, 6 if I recall correctly.

Help with fully dead CECHC04 motherboard

I've found what was dead - it was main 3.3V step-down converter near the power button circuitry.
