Yes, you need to connect the TTL ground to the ps3 board ground. First leave diag unconnected, and use syscon CXR as explained in the PDF manual at github db260179/ps3syscon to set EEP 3961 Afterwards fully power off the ps3 (remove powercable) and connect diag also to ps3 ground, reconnect...- Oli82
