Hello, just did an extended FPS stability test with overclocked firmware on YT.
This console is an overclocked frankie, which is why GPU temps are lower than what a normal COK-001 would be.
Of course they are going to come back to life, as the heat from the reflow is going to cause materials to expand and move, it only takes the slightest amount to cause a bad bump to reconnect for a perioid of time. How long? who knows.
Its the reason the oven method/hairdryer/heat gun works on...
I have tested the overclocked RSX firmware in the prolouge mission of TLOU, gains are rather impressive
Testing was done on two COK-001 systems
OC'ed console was a 40NM COK-001 and stock system was 90NM COK-001
I have ruled out it being the console, since ive been able to get it to happen on two models of the exact same console so it rules out it being a hardware defect, i do have a HEN super slim somewhere i can test with. I will report back my findings.
So.. i think ive found a slight issue with the latest version of webman mod, if you enable the new FPS plugin and start navigating menus within the XMB, it will eventually YLOD the console with 1601/1701 (enabling the start+select menu speeds up this too). I have no clue if that has been...
The remaning stuff is in fact some form of oil, its what is used to hold the paste together, you'll notice with cheap paste, or with paste that has been sitting a while, it will seperate and you will just get a clear oil coming out of the tube.
And to why this happens, as mentioned its due to...
Just a little tip for anyone with a delidded CELL, it would appear that standard thermal paste is not very optimal for the cell anyways, from my experiance it tends to get "Pumped out" likely due to the high tempretures and the difference in thermal expansion between the die and IHS. This is why...
Right i might have found a good game to test the overclock with, using bioshock infinite and using the intro to the game as a benchmark. The reason this game is a perfect candidate is due to its ability to unlock the frame rate within settings.
(P.S random video i found on YT, but it shows the...
Hmm, i do have an idea, maybe it's possible to use the PS3 source engine games, such as Orange box and portal 2 to create a benchmark, if its possible to load other maps in then by switching out files etc..?
Oh and any games with lots of ingame cutscenes would also be a good test, as they are the same thing every time, almost like a propper benchmark, it just has to be a long cutscene that is all, MGS4 would be a good game to test this, as i belive most of the cut scenes are in game rendered, and...
the naughty dog games can be "improved" as its possible to disable the 30FPS frame rate cap via the dev menu that can easily be applied using an EBOOT, which would turn them into good tests.
