Well in this thread you've listed the 870 EVO in the highest tier of compatibility, so if that one doesn't work I'm not sure which one will. Maybe better to get an SHDD then.
Would anyone know a solution for this? I've still been using the PS3 with its factory Hard Drive, but space is getting low and I'd like to upgrade it without breaking the PS2 functionality
I don't think so, is that a PS3 feature? As far as I was aware that was a PS4 thing. Also, I tried multi-output and using the A/V port for audio, which eliminates this issue, however I'd still like to know how I can just use the HDMI out.
I've been having a similar issue. I use a VGA monitor on my console gaming setup, and for my PS3 I recently switched from A/V to HDMI using a Tendak Active HDMI to VGA converter (which splits the audio to a 3.5mm jack)
The startup & menu sounds will play, but all the sound stops after booting...
Very new to this stuff, if I turn on my CFW PS3 is it automatically going to update and ruin it? Or do I have a choice? I'm pretty sure I disabled PSN Network & Automatic Updates

I have my PS2 mode fan set to 40% in webman. When the ISO is mounted/launched the fan kicks in, but as soon as the console enters PS2 mode it goes back to Syscon fan. I'd rather not cook my processors unnecessarily, could someone help me...
Ok I just put the retail HDD back in and everything works as normal again, so it was definitely a problem with the SSD.
I guess my question now is what 1+TB internal storage should I buy that won't have this issue?
