No, I did read. I absolutely would never do such a thing. I just had a second flsh on another stick in the usb port the ps3 was probably not even looking at. Not afraid to admit to noobish actions like cutting corners but also not trying to reinvent the wheel.

I truly think some (maybe many) problems occur because of faulty usb connections. Earlier a dump I did seemed to be good but was no where near 16MB so its useless/uncomplete.. I don't always have the patience to work slow (I skipped the backupproces mostly) doing all the steps but I do know how...
