If you don't want the updates then don't connect the console to the internet...
I didn't connect my console to the internet ever since i got it, I am on 8.60 waiting for a Jailbreak.
I don't really see a way to do firmware downgrades with the PS5.
Being on the latest firmware is a sure fire...
So...
I had an accident and a solder blob fell on some SMDs on the back of the RSX near the TOKINs :hopelessness:
I cleaned it and in the process knocked 2-3 of those tiny SMDs off.
While it is repairable,it is not something that i can fix on my own so i will have to send it to a lab :(
And now...
So i guess it really is the tokins?
But according to the error code is it the RSX Tokins?
I have 4 caps in a piggyback configuration and i still get YLOD...
Here is a pic (I insulated these afterwards, sorry about the bad soldering job):
Well,I didn't touch the CPU side at all,and i just add caps in parallel to the original tokins,
I don't remove them.
So i will try adding caps to the CPU side of the tokins.
As for the syscon error log i currently don't have what i need to do that.
And no,I didn't try another PSU,i don't have...
So i added 2 more caps to the RSX side - Didn't change anything.
I will later try with the CELL side.
I did some testing and there are the games that don't trigger YLOD at all:
Ridge Racer 7
PS2 Disc games
I guess that those utilize the CELL less than rest of the games out there?
Oops,I forgot to flip them in the picture.
So if i were to flip those to the correct position, would this be fine?
Looking at the symptoms,it appears that it's both warm startup and the tokins.
It began with only intensive games and at specific moment i got YLOD and it had progressed to the...
Can i do piggyback like this?:
I am using Panasonic 2R5TPE470M7 capacitors.
470 uF, 2.5 VDC, 7 mOhms, 1.8 mm
I already soldered 2 caps and now the system finally turns on (after pressing the power button 5-6 times).
It crashes during games so i need to put more caps.
My soldering skills...
My unit has 2 out of the last 3,
And if my system is off for a few hours or more it will take a few attempts pressing the power button for it to boot.
Could it be the TOKINs as well?
If the machine is off for just a few minutes then i can turn it on no problems.
:)
That's correct.
True :D
Thanks for the info,It still sounds like my issue is the TOKINs
It used to happen only in very intensive in-game scenarios, but now it happens in most games.
I will look into Syscon,It's very useful stuff so thank you!
