firmware update

hello Is it possible to update the firmware of my PSX In case I don't have an original disc. I managed to download this file "DESR-7000-DESR-5000-DESR-7100-DESR-5100 Senyou - PSX Update Disc Ver. 1.31 (Japan)" and I want to know if it is possible to use this file for updating the firmware. thanks

I! I'm just a noob in the ps3 world.I just bought a jail broken ps3 slim cech-2001a.can I upgrade it to the latest cfw?I'm on 4.76 CEX COBRA 7.20. Do I need to to downgrade to 3.55? What is the best CFW for my ps3? Thanks
