Dump issues -- Ros1 Hash and three cell_ext_os_area warnings

So I messed up and didn't install OFW twice as recommended (I was following a video guide that worked for me last time, which didn't mention doing that) and after checking my new PS3 fat's dump, I got 4 warnings:

009.04 ROS1 Hash
011.02 cell_ext_os_area 0xFF Filled Area 0
011.03 cell_ext_os_area Break Section
011.04 cell_ext_os_area 0xFF Filled Area 1

I just got this system on eBay and the guy mentioned using it for running linux. I had read this might have something to do with the cell_ext_os warnings?

My system is still turned on and now I'm not sure what I should do. Is it safe to go forward with installing CFW? I hate the thought of leaving this thing on for an extended period without the webman fan curve running.

Thanks for any advice on this.

Edit: I rebooted without any issues. Should I try reinstalling the OFW and doing the dump process all over again or just go ahead with the CFW?

I don't think it's a problem.
If you already successfully applied the patch to the Flash memory with PS3 Toolset & were invited to reboot & install a cfw, you can do so & install the CFW from recovery mode.

I actually haven't tried applying the patch yet. You think it's safe to give that a shot?

Also, sorry for the noob question, but how do you go about getting into recovery mode? I know normally with CFW, you put it in the PS3/Update folder with a specific name and then update it using the USB. Is it a different process with recovery mode?

Thanks so much for the help, btw.

For me it should be safe to proceed.
If you reinstalled ofw, the ros1 hash warning would most likely go away & the other warnings are related to the OtherOS (Linux) dedicated area of the Flash memory, it should not be an issue.

If you want confirmation you should just ask @littlebalup.

The recovery mode is accessed through a power button sequence, check the official PlayStation online manual.

The update process requirements is basically the same in recovery as it is on xmb, the pup file must be on a MBR FAT32 partition & the path/file name must be in upper case.

Yep, I agree with bguerville. It should be safe to proceed.

Thanks guys, I went ahead with it and everything seems to have worked fine. I'm actually surprised at the temps I'm seeing on this thing. I have the fan minimum at about 40% and the temps are idling at about 54% for the CPU and 48-49 for the RSX. That seems decent for a system that hasn't had the paste replaced (to my knowledge). The warranty sticker looks like it may have been tampered with but I can't tell for sure.

The guy I bought it from said he used it for linux and judging by the 3.41 version OFW it came with, that must have been about all he used it for. It was in pristine shape too; barely a scratch on it. Now I'm just trying to decide if I should send it in now to get the caps changed and the paste replaced, or just keep it as is since it's running well. You guys have any recommendations on that, by chance?

Thanks again!
