PS News Playstation 5 redesign?

Let me guess for PS5 "redesign":

1. Back to boxy-style design
2. The BD-ROM drive is now placed above the mobo and on the right side when placed horizontally.
3. Might plan to put 2TB SSD as 800GB SSD is not enough.
4. Might removing M.2 SSD slot that totally useless since day 1.
5. Ditching liquid metal and roll back to traditional thermal paste.
6. Might be ditching AMD APU with RDNA2 GPU but ended up having a separate CPU and GPU chips instead.
7. Astro Bot game might be removed from next PS5 models and players need to download the game for free.

Ad4. It is useless because turned off. You cannot achieve the same speed for USB 3.0 and high probably that's why they don't allow to playing PS5 games from external storage (even copy it there for some stupid reason).

Ad5. On PC, those "liquid metal" evaporating in around 2 years (that's how I heard, never see such cooling system in any PC). I would rather trust more standard paste.

Ad7. BTW: Can player delete this crap or it is locked?

I really doubt Asus and Sony and other manufacturers are using something that will only last 2 years in their new technology. Time will tell but I can not see anyone in the board room thinking that is a good idea.

Yes you can remove Astro. It's gone after a factory reset.

1. Stop with motherboard inbuilt HDD. Internal HDD should be removable & replaceable with M.2 slot. Like XBox

2. Replace liquid metal with conventional high performance thermal paste

3. Get rid of twisted curly design. Make it a simple cuboid with adequate ventilation and easily usable both horizontally & vertically with bottom screw.

4. Release FW support for use of M.2 expansion slot to add more memory.

Yeah I tried having an SSD as external on my computer, I couldn't even tell the difference in the speed vs a regular hdd. I don't know why they can't make usb better than it is hopefully one day it can be as good as internal.

Also this the entire reason why I was going to buy a PS5 at launch but now I don't know when I'm going to buy one maybe not for several years, the storage situation.

@snkplkn PS5 doesn't have 'inbuild HDD' but soldered to motherboard SSD.

Xbox Series have external storage but in cartridge form. Secured and with ridiculous price. It would be sufficient to just put M.2 under simple flap... That's the same crap as PS2 and PSVita Memory Cards.

@NoSoul USB and PCIe are different technologies. For external solutions comparable to M.2 are only U.2 and latest Thunderbolt. USB, at least in 3.1 type2, cannot reach PCIe 4.0 speeds.

Yes you can remove Astro. It's gone after a factory reset.
So if I lost my mind and buy PS5, I need to perform factory reset to delete pre-installed crapware? I cannot just delete it from menu? This reminds me system apps updates on PS4 which aren't system part, but took some space. :|

Yeah you can delete it from the menu, it's just a normal game. I only had confirmation that factory reset removes it. But a quick google search shows its removeable just like any game.

To be honest I would not call a game included for free for the purpose of showcasing the Dualsense features "crapware".

But it is low quality pre-installed platform game, how to name it otherwise? But if can be easily deleted, than I'm fine. Those who want to play, will play, and those who don't, will kill it without regret. ;)

Personally, those haptic feedback would be first thing which I want to turn off (if possible), so I do not need crypto-ads-game to show how it can be implemented by game devs.

Reviews are bought by real money or gadgets, and reviewers are digital whores in those days. But of course, everyone have it's taste. Who knows, for majority, this game can be good, but for me, judging by what I saw is advertising cheap stuff.

Ah now, I think you are getting very cynical in your old age :) Some are bought of course, but even developers/Youtubers like MVG said it was great. I don't think PS5 reviewers like him would have any issue saying the truth if it was crap, he criticizes Sony for plenty of things all the time.

Maybe I started turning into old decaying tree or some early stage of gramp from Gran Torino. ;p
Haha,, well someone around here has to defend Sony or else it would just be everyone shitting on them all the time. So I guess that is me. :)

I hope it does get a redesign, because it's majorly ugly as it stands right now. it's also way too large. the only place I could put it is on top of my entertainment center, but that's where my 360 is.
