PS3HEN 2.1.0 Possible bug. Disabling CFW syscalls causes XMB to freeze on menu load

VTSTech

Developer
Model: CECH-3001A
HEN: 2.1.0

Steps to reproduce.

1) Boot PS3
2) Enable HEN 2.1.0
3) Run PsnPatch
4) Press Triangle. Beep confirms CFW syscall disabled
5) PS3 returns to XMB. Menu starts to populate and freezes.

In my case WebMAN Mod and Multiman and dozens of PKG games are installed.

Behavior is observed with or without webman installed and/or in memory.

PSNPatch isn't officially supported by PS3HEN, and we never tested this since 1.0.0

we got a couple of questions.

1. Have you been using PSNPatch since previous releases? if so? which version is the one that worked?
2. what happens if you use webMAN MOD to disable syscalls (which is what I tested for COD BO2 and worked fine)

PsnPatch worked fine for me in HEN 2.0.2. Still does. I am not able to reliably use gamepad shortcuts with webMAN Mod. It's really hit or miss (Using 3rd party Logitech PC controller in DirectInput mode), So I use PsnPatch to disable cfw syscalls.

I believe HEN 2.0.2 was the first one I installed. Just got my PS3 this week. Might have been around for 2.0

when you disable cfw syscalls you disable the cfw patches thats why you can't do gamepad shortcut like seeing cpu temp..... you need to reboot and renable hen same as cfw syscall disabled and ps3 reboot to full cfw then you get back your ps3 to normal :)

My shortcuts do not work regardless of syscalls. I do not have a sony controller. I have a logitech controller. This may be why.

I have the same problem with sen enabler. I can disable syscalls and run a game, but if I use the xmb for a while or when open a folder of xmb, the ps3 freezes

I have yet to get a freeze on HEN 2.0.2 with CFW syscalls disabled... But I also haven't spent a lot of time in the XMB. Usually go right into whatever game i just mounted before disable syscall..

There is one option that I can think of...I believe it was a Multiman option to replace icon of blue disc with an actual icon or something. That could be the culprit. (It does not freeze on HEN 2.0.2 even with this option thou...)

Please try this latest BETA 2.1.1

Changes
Code:
PSNPatch is fixed, no more freezing from syscall removal
Remap for HFW_settings is now fully protected, no more disappearing HFW tools
^ HFW tools will show after XML is refreshed which webMAN MOD can do on launch
Stability patches added on initial boot process

Great work!

Installs cleanly on top of 2.0.2, No need for PKG Blind.
Shutdown PS3/Boot PS3
Enable HEN.
Mount Game.
Run PsnPatch. Press Triangle. (Using acct #3 in my case and /dev_hdd0/exdata)
System Beeps. CFW syscalls disabled.
Return to XMB ... DOES NOT FREEZE :)
Attempt to run psnpatch again to confirm homebrew/syscalls disabled. Confirmed.
Boot game :)

Please don't use psnpatch for for rif
It's not stable for 4k ps3 atleast. Hen will take care of it and is much more stable and easier

I'm not really using psnpatch for rap->rif. Usually I install game, then run it, then delete source pkg. So it is actually HEN doing it.

I only do psnpatch later before playing game and signing into psn.
