Safe to play PSN game while online?

I want to play a PKG game that is download-only, but is primarily an offline game. My PS3 only used the Ethernet network. Do I have to disable the network connection every time I play the game in order to avoid a ban? If so, does anyone have any tricks to this for convenience? Hope I'm making sense, I'm a bit of a noob.
