Update to 9.00 and follow the USB jailbreak procedure. Or update to 11.00 but only if you have the means of at least jailbreaking it on that firmware, or adding a modchip so the jailbreak is semi permanent.

A better idea is to learn to regularly make local backups yourself. They're free and you're not reliant on someone else's computer which is what cloud storage is. You can still get your account banned and have your saves go with it, but noone can take away your local backups :)

Your point about companies not making laws is debatable, specially in the USA. Though I agree with your opinion.
