Update: after a good disc drive clean and some just general maintenance it still has the same issues. Even after dusting and cleaning the hdmi ports, as well as a format and hard drive replacement. What should I do?
In my opinion, it'd be worth it to test a game you'd install to the console on a freshly formatted system. Now you'd obviously have to back up your saves to USB which is really easy, but I would personally give that a shot.
I should also mention that maybe your ps3 is having issues properly...
