PS3Xploit Flash Writer (4.93 HFW Req)

Just in case someone asks - There is no Flash Writer for 4.92 and probably will never be one (unless you're willing to code it yourself). If you're on 4.92 and want to install CFW, use bgtoolset. If for any reason bgtoolset doesn't work for you or you prefer not to use it, update to HFW 4.93.1...

    PS3 4.93 Evilnat w/ Cobra v8.5 - (CEX/PEX/D-PEX)

I think Joonie hasn't been around for at least a year. I guess it's either Evilnat or we'll have to learn.

    PS3 PS3Xploit Flash Writer (4.90 HFW)

Interesting. Can you explain how it is different than the usual NOFSM patch?

    PS3 PS3Xploit Flash Writer (4.90 HFW)

I think last time he popped in here just to say he's aware of the new version and will work on it when he has time or something. He never gave any ETAs, which makes sense, but he did confirm he was aware.

    PS3 4.93 Evilnat w/ Cobra v8.5 - (CEX/PEX/D-PEX)

AFAIK no new changes other than those pulled from OFW (AACS keys, SSL certificates) and the auto-updater patched to use Evilnat's new repos after the Github got taken down.

    PS3 PS3Xploit Flash Writer (4.90 HFW)

Sorry for bumping. Since we have not heard anything from bguerville and there are already a bunch of people who accidentally updated to 4.93 OFW, maybe it's time to revive Flash Writer? I have a "sacrificial goat" if needed, as well as an E3 flasher.

    PS3 4.93 Evilnat w/ Cobra v8.5 - (CEX/PEX/D-PEX)

Update to the newest 4.93, it has everything already fixed.

I second the Codeberg recommendation - It's worth setting it as a mirror to Gitlab, because it's EU based and therefore not subject to DMCA claims. Having one US and one EU mirror gives you better survivability because there's no single jurisdiction that can take down both.

    PS3 4.93 Evilnat w/ Cobra v8.5 - (CEX/PEX/D-PEX)

You can update. No more fixes are expected in the near future since no new bugs have been reported. The only incoming update is to fix Internet updates after Evilnat's github got taken down, and that fix will be in the form of a separate pkg, not a new PUP.

    PS3 4.93 Evilnat w/ Cobra v8.5 - (CEX/PEX/D-PEX)

Evilnat's moved the source code to Gitlab: Evilnat · GitLab

    PS3 4.93 Evilnat w/ Cobra v8.5 - (CEX/PEX/D-PEX)

Github can't be trusted because every troll can request a takedown. I can try setting up a VPS and self-host a git repo in it. Or would you prefer to use ps3xploit's own server?

    PS3 4.93 Evilnat w/ Cobra v8.5 - (CEX/PEX/D-PEX)

Evilnat never said anything about a 4.93.2 so don't assume anything. It may or may not happen at all, and if it does happen, only Evilnat knows what's planned. 4.93 is stable after the PSN bugfix. You can safely update. Worst case you can always downgrade back. It's basically 4.92.2 rebased on...

PS3 HFW 4.93.1 (Hybrid Firmware) Official Release

Not possible, since that needs actually patching files (vs reverting), which would break Sony's signature. That said, noBD is never an issue because the BD daughterboard has been removed in the slim 25xx and all later models and all the models that have it (21xx and earlier) are CFW compatible...

PS3 PS3 Firmware 4.93 - Update is Live! (CFW and HFW Released)

4.93 is basically 4.92.2 rebuilt on 4.93. The only differences between them are those carried over from OFW, namely updated AACS keys and SSL certificates.

PS3 PS3 Firmware 4.93 - Update is Live! (CFW and HFW Released)

The initial release of Evilnat 4.93 had a bug that crashed the system when attempting to log in. This has been fixed now and PSN is working normally. The risk of using PSN is slightly lower than staying on 4.92.2, just because you don't need to spoof the firmware version. Afaik there are no new...
