    PS1 KSM-213CCM optical drive on a PlayStation

I remember seeing this mod for a KSM-213C optical drive replacement on AliExpress a few years ago, and it always intrigued me, even though having an external drive is quite inconvenient. Later, I found a not so clear diagram showing how to install it, and thanks to the laser head's datasheet it...

PS1 PS1 Overclock, revisiting an old project.

This past week, I decided to return to an old PS1 overclocking project based on the Si5351 clock generator. The idea came to me a few years ago when I read an old "guide," if we can call it that, in which someone suggested replacing the clock generator on a PS One with an 80 MHz crystal to...

    PS1 PlayStation badge replacement

3D printing it wouldn't be ideal for my tastes because the badge is very thin (about 0.25-0.3 mm at most) and it would be difficult to achieve a smooth finish. My main goal was to carve it out of a metal, in this case copper, which also has a functional connection to the console itself, with a...

    PS1 PlayStation badge replacement

Ciao! A few days ago I bought a cheap CNC 3018, and one of the first things I made, mostly to familiarize myself with the machine and the softwares needed to use it, was a badge for a PlayStation that was missing one. I made it out of copper from a 0.3mm thick sheet. It took me a few trial runs...

    PS2 New Noctua NF-A6x15 for PS2

Recently I made an adapter to mount the Noctua in the SCPH-1x000 series. There are some things I'd like to improve to strengthen it a bit (I printed it with PLA CF and I'll try with PETG CF), but the space inside the shell is limited, especially in height, and I'm at the limit with the maximum...

PS2 [Testers Needed] UDPBD - The next generation of loading games through LAN on a PS2!

I'm trying to test it (with a GL.iNet mini router) on some SCPH-1x000 but although the game list loads correctly if I try to start a game the debug screen stays stuck on green. To be safe since I haven't used it for a long time and I don't remember if I had left it set correctly on the server...

    PS2 Service Manual SCPH-1x000

Yes I fixed a 30004 with a GH-013 with that problem a few months ago... It also had a broken impedance matching resistor between EE and GS. And that's another problem I've had a few times too with other PS2s.

    PS2 Service Manual SCPH-1x000

Ciao! A quick update to the thread. No, I didn't find the service manual. :( But having some free time I disassembled, multimeter and oscilloscope in hand, a working SCPH-15000 that I have in my collection to make some measurements and compare them with the non-working 18000, since they share...

    PS2 New Noctua NF-A6x15 for PS2

On the 30k and 39k series it is like this, but on the 50k (like the ones I use this fan in) it is not. Years ago I noticed that just the Network Adapter is enough, even without a hard disk, to "trigger" the 7V to the fan, so the fan speed is fixed and independent of what the hard disk is doing...

    PS2 New Noctua NF-A6x15 for PS2

The PS2 fan is automatically powered at a fixed 7V when the hard drive is connected, in my case is always connected. And no it is not powered when the console is in standby, so it is fine as I did with the DC-DC converter that lowers the 7V to 5V for the fan.

    PS2 Service Manual SCPH-1x000

Thanks for the advice but I've never used Discord. :D Anyway at the moment the repair of that 18000 is on hold for other more urgent ones. :encouragement:

    PS2 PS2 and VGA monitors

Given the huge enthusiasm behind the new Alpha of GTA 3 for the Dreamcast, a few days ago I played again the PS2 version, more precisely the one with the patch of the so-called Enhanced Edition, setting GSM in HDTV 480p mode (in VGA 640x480 mode the image is not perfectly centered unless you...

    PS2 New Noctua NF-A6x15 for PS2

I had some time to replace an "old" 25mm Noctua with the 15mm one, both 5V. The cable, which I had to loop around the fan to connect it to the 3 pin connector from the DC-DC converter, passes perfectly between the stock grill and the 3D printed support so as to remain blocked and not clutter the...
