A few minutes is not enough for water to escape the motherboard. That being said my hypothesis as to what happened is that the heat-gun was the final straw that damaged the BGA/Bumps beyond repair by causing them to finally crack.
Its likely the CPUs BGA/Bumps are cooked. This would make sense as it worked overnight while running a game which would be due to the BGA/Bumps being temporarily connected due to thermal expansion.
Counterintuitively the lack of a 3034 does make that scenario a little less likely. I do not have...
That is strange how a specific game causes it to crash at a specific point. While this may seem obvious, if you installed it from a disk did you check it for scratches? I have played games from disk where they install fine but halfway through progression they just crash for no reason.
It really...
Luckily we have a service manual for the CECHC models.
Here are some images that list what these components are and their properties
As far as buying the components go. Mouser Electronics is a good website
My bad. I should have done more research on this before just jumping to conclusions.
It does make much more sense that different components would have different thicknesses as they need to all touch the chassis at different points and obviously some are taller and shorter than others
Classic combo yet again. the 14FF and 1701 errors happen when the CPU drives the BE ATTENTION signal high which in this case probably happened when it reached a checkstop state. I'm guessing this was due to a failure to communicate with the harddrive
yes it is possible that the SATA circuit...
From previous posts it seems that a 1B01 error code relates to a short with the CELL-BE or a component directly related to it. Thus it wouldn't be too out there if we assumed that a 1B02 relates to a short with the RSX or a component directly related to it. The step number 11 could also suggest...
