PS2 This is Controller Real or Fake?

Unfortunately it's most likely fake. To my knowledge, the IC in the middle of the mainboard (SD758-3AC4) has not been used in any official Sony hardware. All of the case markings I can see on it look real though. The flex PCB probably went bad due to low quality + age. Had to refund a controller...

    PS3 PS3 CECHL reliability?

Recently, I have been looking at importing a Japanese silver CECHL from eBay for some time now. I know that the 90nm RSX chips are notoriously unreliable and that the NEC/TOKIN capacitors are somewhat a reliability risk. But how much of a risk does the NEC/TOKIN capacitors pose in an average...

PS3 0.90 .PKG files unable to be opened in PKGview or even be decrypted

Interesting. After going through the 0.93 thread it seems like this was accomplished by aldostools's ps3tools. I found the mega.nz link from the ps3tools thread and I have downloaded them. I'll have to download a copy of MSVBVM50.dll later because it complained about it being missing during...

PS3 0.90 .PKG files unable to be opened in PKGview or even be decrypted

PS3 I dropped my ps3 want advice on what error log means

I can't really tell from the photo, but it looks like there might be a chip on one side of the core itself. If it's a particularly deep crack on the core, you could probably see it if you run a flashlight over the sides of the core and focus in. If it feels like a crack, and glows under light...

PS3 I dropped my ps3 want advice on what error log means

A0403034 and A0404002 are unfortunately indicative of a dead RSX. Check if there is any damage on the physical RSX chip. If you see any tan scrape marks/gouges or missing caps on the chip substrate, then the chip is very likely dead and irreparable. And also, what tool did you use to delid the...
