PS2 This is Controller Real or Fake?

Hi guys,

I bought this PS2 controller with a light on but no response to the buttons.

I noticed the cable is stiff and short (~1.8m). The print on the flex circuit board also looks low quality; the color comes off when cleaned.

Do you think it might be fake?

Unfortunately it's most likely fake. To my knowledge, the IC in the middle of the mainboard (SD758-3AC4) has not been used in any official Sony hardware. All of the case markings I can see on it look real though. The flex PCB probably went bad due to low quality + age. Had to refund a controller once for the exact same reason.

Luckily, I got it cheaply. It's almost impossible to tell the difference from the original controller.
