PS3 XMB Package Downloader (XMBPD) v0.70

XMBPD 0.20 is ready.

Here are some of the features listed:

★ Ability to download over 70 packages from the XMB just by selecting them, with no USB stick required.
★ Packages divided up into 4 categories (plus an upcoming themes category that Im working on)
★ Package list will update automatically or can be refreshed manually using the new function.
★ Removes the annoying Spotify and Singstar links from main XMB (packages still available to download through XMBPD)
★ This application installs to flash so it is still there after a system format/restore, handy for getting your favourite apps back without needing a PC/USB Stick.
★ Installing this will also fix some missing icons from CFW tools on ingame XMB.
★ XMBPD can be updated from within itself via the Tools/Mods/Misc section.
★ Addon available called "CFW Applications" which adds a new folder to your XMB for applications you want to keep separate from your games.
★ Selection of applications available in the Tools/Mods/Misc sections that will install straight into the CFW applications folder.(or you can move your own apps easily by changing the category to CB in the PARAM.SFO and resizing icon slightly)
★ New icon set for all the categories, All the icons are added to the relevant RCO files for fastest response and smallest filesize while keeping quality.
★ This is compatible with Multiman singstar unlike early releases.

Note:
- A PSN account is still required for this application to work, you don't need to be signed into PSN, you just to have an account on your PS3.
- This installer was only made for Rebug 4.78, It will not install on lower FW.
- After the initial install please reboot and allow up to 2 minutes for the categories to fill up as it syncs.

As usual Im glad to have feedback and bug report

Had an idea, and it seems to have worked. I stopped using the music xil completely and reorganised the other categories so they are using different xils (I am still hosting a blank one for music) , and then I used [MENTION=6]bitsbubba[/MENTION]s Spotify fix for Singstar instead, long story short it works really well, 4 categories, 70 packages so far.

Now that this seems to be working without having to modify more modules im thinking of putting a little more time into it. Ive added all the No-PSN packages I could find. Now 70 packages available for download altogether.

So decided to just release this version as is as Im busy with other things , I will come back to it.

Download XMBPD 0.18.00

This has all hash's fixed for cobra thanks to bitsbubba and thanks to 0_obeWAN for sorting out the icons and for testing etc, this will install on any Rebug at or above 4.70 (XMBPD will not work on lower FW or on non Rebug FW sorry).

I am considering going back to the old look (list view) as it allows for categories, it allows for backgrounds , and the game doesn't boot after install which annoys me with this view, and it could be built into XMBM+ easily wiith the list view, what do you think ]bitsbubba? it could be the best way if your fix for Spotify works, and priority pkgs.

Also there are only so many of these entries in the Sony sprx's/xmls , and Im running out of them, so if we go back to using the xil xmls for XMBPD then it frees up the TV channel Item for other mods like Webman Launchpad etc. then they can all be installed at the same time if required.

At the moment you can only run one of my mods at a time, in a few days I will release an installer that allows them both to run together. So if you want to use this then uninstall Launchpad using its own installer first, or vice versa.

(I will be still adding new pkgs to this as they come out, I just added new ScummVM 1.8.0 today).

As Rebug 4.78.2 is officially out now, Ive made a new XMBPD pkg using the new files, so this release of XMBPD includes Joonies fix for XMBM+ (The last release didn't), so XMBM+ will now show up on both Debug and Retail XMB's, and all icons are working properly on ingame XMB thanks to [MENTION=29]Joonie[/MENTION].

For anyone who has this installed already they can just download the latest XMBPD package from within the XMBPD , Run it and select option 1 again.

UPDATE: @bitsbubba has fixed the TV category problem, which was the biggest problem in v0.16.01 imo. He has fixed it in an even better way than I was planning to, and by doing this it has added the option for a 5th homebrew category inside XMBPD, which is great.

So here is XMBPD v0.16.02 package now with a working TV category.

So the only "small" issues as of now are:
1. Only working on Rebug 4.75 and above.
2. If you are on Rebug 4.78 You should have CFW Settings enabled in the Toolbox when you initially install this, not really a big deal
3. All categories showing same items , I know how to solve it. Will be sorted asap.

If by any chance you still have an app missing from the TV category after installing this version, can you please post the Content ID here and we can make a small update for you and everyone else.

Here is the latest version if anyone wants to give it a go, it works fine here for me on the 3 latest Rebug REX FW's apart from the 4 "small" issues mentioned below, but I would like bug reports : Download XMBPD v0.16. It uses the Team XMBM+ installer so its now very easy for people on Rebug to try out. (thanks [MENTION=6]bitsbubba[/MENTION] for the tips on making the package).







Installing:

There are 2 options in the installer plus the back up feature that's built in:

1. Is for installing XMB Package Downloader to the network category

2. Is for reverting to standard Rebug XMB

* The installer will backup your current XMB before it installs, so If at a later time you want to revert back to that instead of the standard Rebug XMB then use the restore backup feature instead of option 2.
** You can completely delete the installer from your game category after youve run this app if you don't mind losing your XMB backup. if you need to install XMBPD again, or uninstall XMBPD you can just redownload the latest XMBPD installer pkg from within XMBPD.


Usage:

The latest packages available will update online as long as you are using a user account with a PSN account attached (doesn't need to be logged in). After first installing this it will appear on your XMB but the categories will be empty, reboot, and then it will sync, sometimes it takes 5 minutes for all the package lists to appear in all the categories. There are now 35 packages included for easy installing. (36 if you include the fact that XMBPD can now be updated from within itself for convenience in the future, so you will only need to install it once in theory when its done, Also this app will survive a Format/Restore as its all on flash/hosted online. Very easy for this to be built into FW aswell if people wish to do that in the future. Ì already have it built into Rebug 4.78 for my own use.


Known Issues in this version:

1. As of now this breaks the TV category items like Netflix and amazon etc, they will not show up anymore. So if you use any TV category items then don't try this yet, or try it and then switch back. (I will have this sorted soon).

2. On Rebug 4.78.1 Because of the way enabling CFW Settings in the Toolbox swaps the xmls, You need to have CFW Settings enabled in the toolbox when installing this if you want to keep the ability to toggle CFWS 100% properly from the toolbox, I mean so you can toggle the setting without it effecting XMBPD. Not much I can do about this atm except maybe include more options in the pkg for various situations but then the pkg will get big so for now its easier if you just have it enabled when initially installing XMBPD.

3. As of now XMB Package Downloader only works for users of Rebug FW at or above 4.75 due to a SSL error when downloading the packages on Rebug below that.(might look into this someday).

4. As of now all Homebrew categories show the same items (I will have this sorted soon too).

* Issues 1 and 4 will be solved as soon as I get a server set up properly.
** This is FW dependant due to the sprx file involved, so Ive made it so it will only install on 4.75, 4.76, 4.78 FW's. Ive built a warning into the installer so people know its for Rebug only, and so they know they should enable CFW settings if on 4.78.

Use this at your own risk, its worked fine for me on Rebug 4.75, 4.76 and 4.78 REX on both CEX and DEX XMB's but I cant test every possible system setup, im sure its going to be incompatible with some other XMB mods..


EDIT: 26th Feb : please use updated version 0.16.03 or later as this fixes TV category and a few other fixes

The only difference in this version is I have removed the link to the xil game xml so now the Official Package Downloader category will always be empty even if you have xmls there (so just use v0.10.02 if your not having any problems). Also I applied the fix to one of the png filenames since v0.10.02 as noticed by 0_obeWAN.
