PS3 2.80 and under original XMB loading clock animation help

Hello everyone. I am trying to replace the XMB loading clock animation to the original one from 2.80 and down. I am having trouble trying to find its location. Does anyone know where I can find it and also where I might be able to download the original animation file? Thanks!

I've done this recently.

I forgot the name of it, but the border is in the xmb_plugin_normal and xmb_ingame rco files in dev_blind/vsh/resource. You can tell which plane it is based on the x, y coordinates (it's obvious). The clock face is in system _plugin.normal as a gim/PNG under the name busy and busy_short/busy_long for the hour and minute hands respectively. In all these cases, remove the planes calling them in the main XML files to remove them. Use rcomage to decompile them.

Edit: now that I think about it, I think both xmb rco files have these two planes called base and adjust. Base, I believe, is the clock border. Iirc, adjust is the space between the digital clock and the clock face (don't mess with this one).

Yw, I made the files for 4.91, but with one difference - my current xmb rco files (the two I mentioned above) are using the old PSN logo. I could upload them if you're interested. I don't know if they're compatible with 4.92 though. sometimes rco files are, but there's no guarantee.

edit: I went ahead and made the files for 4.92 instead of relying on 4.91. the three files are identical for 4.92 hfw and 4.92 cfw evilnat, so it should work on either hen or cfw:

Thanks Charles!! I'm still on 4.91 too. This is going to sound very noob of me. I know my way around CFX pretty well but it's been a struggle with this clock. I think we may be discussing two separate things unless I'm fully misunderstanding haha. Let me explain.

On OFW 2.80 and older, the loading clock looked kind of like water dropping/floating. You'd see it when you pop a disc in or when something was loading. Ever since 3.0 OFW, they changed it to look like an actual clock with hour and numbers hands spinning when loading. I haven't got a chance to get on the computer and start changing files yet but I will shortly. Let me know if I've got this all wrong and thank you again for your help!!

I uploaded a picture of the original clock and the new clock.

you may have to ask @LuanTeles , he knows more about xmb modding than I do. however, there's a mod where you can replace the clock face, and using the animation of the busy icon, it will pulsate like you mentioned. I'm not sure if there's more to it than that, but an old dev named IcEmAn told me which icon was the clock face as we were both trying to find it. it's difficult to find, since its name is busy. anyway, he messed around with it for a while, and he was able to build a pulsating icon by replacing the clock face/busy. I've never built one, so I don't know if there's more to it than simply replacing the icon. you can move the icon to anywhere on the screen too.

Thank you as always for invaluable information Charles!

Yeah, that specific icon I couldn't find in the system_plugin.rco of 2.80. it had a different icon for busy, and no hands for the hours and minutes. I think you may be able to do the pulsating effect as busy_long since it's meant to move, I think. Busy_short might work as well. Then, just delete the plane for the clock face. I would've tried that had I found that icon. Not gonna lie, but it does look familiar.

I will try that. hopefully @LuanTeles will know more

Yeah I just noticed it was gone as well. Be cool if was able to be re implemented within this mod. The loading icon is kinda needed if doable.

Its been too long for me to recall that now, If i am not mistaken, I added the water drop animation to imagefont.bin and i think its included in Evilnat CFW now. I forget the exact details now of how to call it up.

Okay, thanks. I'll keep at it every now and then.

I have an extensive list of PS3 stuff to do, but this is on it. When I have time, I'll definitely take a look at it.

Would love for this to be actually doable. The old logo is way more "2006" if that makes sense!
Keep us posted if you figure it out and is able to post the way you changed it and with what file!
