I know on a recent thread of mine there was talk about this that just started but I'm trying to figure out how much trouble can a dead Blu-Ray drive on a 2100 cause? Can't all the trouble when it dies be removed or avoided with NoBd cfw? Or is it just worth getting a 0C 2500 instead and still get cfw just at a higher price and if there is any other differences or concerns I should know about

I prefer the 2100 as they can all take CFW the 2500 can be tricky. But yes as long as you don't care about the BD a no-BD CFW will make it functional

surely.
2500 has simpler structure than 2100, it somewhat easier to disassemble and repair.
If you want new one, I recommend the 2500 if can get JBable model, .
Also, the hardware specs such as power consumption of both are almost same.

Of course, if you don't need a BD drive, I think NoBD cfw is fine choice.
