PS3 4.75 FERROX Dual Boot (DB) Firmware

CFW developer Alexander has released a new Dual Boot firmware for the recent 4.75 firmware update. Dual Boot firmwares are a slightly modified version of Official Firmware for CFW user's only. This firmware will act and behave the same ways as an Official Firmware but allow for CFW user's to return back to CFW when they choose to. The advantage of this firmware (originally and idea of HABIB) it allows CFW user's to play their disc games with less [break]ss[/break] risk of getting banned when playing online. Then with ECDSA checks disable, this is the change that allows CFW user's to then go back to a CFW when they choose. So if you worried about playing your disc games online on your CFW, this could be a solution to ease your worries.

 • Disabled ECDSA in LV0 (isoldr)
 • Disabled ECDSA in SPU PKG (spu_pkg_rvk_verifier)
 • No function for CFW's enabled
 • No QA FLAG Enabled
 • Stealth * (Dimensions as nell'OFW 4.75) From an idea of HABIB.

TEST Performed on these PS3 Models

 • CECH 2004A - Tested and Working. (Thanks MizIo90)
 • CECH 2004b - Tested and Working. (Thanks MizIo90)
 • CECH-O4 - Tested and Working. (SNK)
 • CECHG-O4 - Tested and Working.
 • CECH 2504A - Tested and Working. (REIZA72)

Important NOTICE: In order to get out of this firmware, you will need a 4.75 CFW (Which there is none at this time) or a 999 Down-grader PUP .. There are several 4.75 MFW releases, which would get you out of this as well. but they were built by user's using MFW builder and may not be ideal for the first 4.75 CFW's releases.

STLcardsWS, a typo in quote:
is "FERROX 4.75 DUAL BOOT (BD) FIRMWARE"
sb "FERROX 4.75 DUAL BOOT (DB) FIRMWARE"

Alexander, the size of the raw coreOS of your build is 0x5C4190... should be 0x6FFFE0 for a clean thing... I think.

Anyway, thanks you ! :)

I should add even more to 0 (zero) to do exactly as OFW 4.75, but I think this does not affect the use and effectiveness of Dual Boot!
However, thanks to you! : D

Surely , the sony prefer this instead of a CFW . But I not yet understand this update .
Now the PS3 is a console that in a year or less , stop developing games .
I do not understand the reason to continue to update it .

If I understand (not sure), you added some "0" to the files themselves to match original file sizes.

I'm talking about the decrypted CORE_OS_PACKAGE.pkg that includes all your files. And this shoud always be size 0x6FFFE0 (match flash ROS regions size).

If not it may corrupt the ROS headers (by changing region size) and make troubles to update via XMB at the second update after the bad-sized coreOS installation (when will repopulation the same ROS with a bigger (well formed) decrypted coreOS).

I already experienced it.
Anyway, it can be fixed via recovery.

P.S.: haxxxen PS3mfw-mod, correct this : http://www.psx-place.com/forum/ps3-jailbreaks-cfw/ps3mfw-builder-mod-1888.html

To patch things as they did with PeXpolit as they have. (that is what this update was about)

They still sell games, Also new games still are being developed. Just maybe not exclusives.

Game developer would be fools to not make games, now is Sony paying (or giving incentives) to some to not make games, in an attempt to make PS4 sales stronger. (maybe) but there is how many PS3 units out there compared to PS4 Alot. PS3 is not dead at all LOL.. There is still new games coming for the console. The market will dictate how long the PS3 wlll last as it did with the PS2. That is one of the main reason consoles lost BC. because PS2 was stronger then expected.

PS3 has a couple years before PS4 over takes it. (but even games will still be developed, especially with a PSN marketplace which the PS2 did not have)

Alexander U wrote "it allows CFW user's to play their disc games with less risk of getting banned when playing online." I have a question. so can i launch a game from irishman or multiman, disable cfw in sen enabler or switch fw that act like and behave like an ofw? or it has higher chance of getting banned when playing online?

Starbucks, lets see if its open or not, need some frappi :p

This time, since we know some db bugs caused, ill make one of my own :)

In theory with a Dual Boot, you can play your original games, without the risk of BAN. But as we always say we Italians ... "Sure is only death." But until now I have never heard anyone who has been banned using the Dual Boot Ferrox. And I know many people who use it. SEN ENABLER instead I find it a good alternative to Dual Boot, although less effective.
Then it depends on the games. If you play Destiny, there are cabbages taking. Ban you the first time.
obviously you can not use Backup Manager on this.

Actually i wrote that :) ..

I replied to your question before and jumped on you a bit for not reading and when i re-read your question i understood it better (so maybe i should take my own advice my apologies).

But yea SEN Enabler and PSNpatch work very well. Usually the only games that give CFW troubles with bans seems to be first person shooters and most times. The game developer has their own servers with additional checks. Also more cheaters and CFW user's abuse those first person shooters. Honestly first person shooter games and online suck because of cheaters. Which is not all the first person shooter but the big titles. but then some say they are okay from bans using those apps on CFW. So its hard to say (because people are not always honest about their bans). with first person shooters i would say a Dual boot firmware is the way to go. But most any other games SEN Enabler and PSNpatch has seemed fine.

Personally i have never been banned with 4 years of being online with original details (and not using a Dual Boot firmware) and no spoofing of console ID. It's just respecting the network and not cheating, but first person shooter online are not my thing and have not played many online (but i have a few times). So perhaps that is why I am safe.???.. Bans are so speculative as we never know what sony is looking for and do not know the methods change at any given time. . Many good theories but that is pretty much all they are.

Ty for the answer :)
I don't play too much. And if I do I only play Fifa 15 online. So I am not an expert. I don't know too much in this theme. I am just using Irishman+sen enabler and play. What do u think? Updating 4.75 ferrox dual boot is worth for me? Or just download a spoof? Or wait for an other cfw like habib? (this is what I am using right now)

If you are using the leaked version of SEN Enabler, i would not use that. It was leaked during testing and could contain some problems what for the official release.

The rest if a choice your going to have to make:
Dualboot with FIFA 15 disc theoretically is the safest.
Spoof some say is a risk, some say its not (i never had problems with spoofs in the past)
4.75 CFW would be safer then a spoof theoretically, but also may be no difference.

There is a potential risk no matter what you do.

A little word of caution using this. Till a 4.75 CFW comes out you will be stuck using this. You can't install a CFW lower then 4.75 to get out of DB CFW. One has to install DB then a 4.75 CFW and then QA flag to roll back to a lower firmware. So if you want to try this go ahead but be warned your gonna be stuck till a 4.75 CFW comes out or use a flasher to downgrade thus defeating the purpose of this.

That is where a MFW could serve useful such as playerkp420 's (i do not like MFW builds being the first one, but that is where his would be very useful).

As you could use this, Install his, then go from there. but good point for those who want to avoid a MFW build. Was kind of odd seeing this as the first release though.

supposedly....someone made a 4.75 cfw at psx-scene, but its untested....it makes me think mfwbuilder.....

this would be easiest to make, though. with 4.70 reference.
