Following the recent Official Firmware (OFW) update of 4.75 for the PS3, homebrew devs have been updating applications, tools, and custom firmwares. We have seen several 4.75 Standard CEX CFW's by Alexander and some MFW builds arise also, now a new choice arises as the HABIB releases his latest CFW build in 4.75 Starbucks v1.00. This Standard CEX based CFW [break]ss[/break] comes equipped with the usual patches found in HABIB's builds (see features below) with also one new addition of "syscall 11 for sc_ctrl" that contains some additional notes for developer's seen below.

to disable syscall(e.g 7)
sc_ctrl(7, 0, 0);

to redirect a syscall(e.g 7)
sc_ctrl(7, 1, 0x8000000000001798ULL);
last paramater should just redirect to tail address to your syscall

Well, i mean...unless you mean better for the user that wants someone to walk over to their house and downgrade their console for free, and never expect them to do anything or learn anything about it, then yeah...here is better

But you know. The thousands of hours spent into research and development, the hundreds of hours put into tutorials, guides, frequently asked questions, etc over the years, that extra 10 minutes to read a tutorial is BRUTAL!!

Problem reverting back to OFW

After I installed the custom firmware to my PS3 I noticed that my games were not updating. Recently I also installed a mod menu for grand theft auto, but when I deleted the mod and wanted to update GTA V again, but instead, it would skip the updates and go right to downloading the game. I tried going back to the OFW but the USB wasnt picked up in the updates for storage media. When I would go to safe mode, It would say that the data is corrupted. I tried other formats from FAT32 such as exFAT and a few others. Same result. I think part of the reason why is the demonstration mode on this firmware, but there is no way to get rid of the demonstration mode from my system. Even though I got rid of the mode through the security passcode, it wont let me update anything, as well as access the playstation store. If you could help me with this, that would be great. I just want the official firmware back and to be able to update everything again so that i can play online with my friends. I am on a PS3 slim by the way. Not superslim. And I know I set up the files in the USB correctly because how else was I able to install the CFW on my PS3. If there is a way to revert back based on a different folder set up let me know. The way I set up the USB is PS3<UPDATE<PS3UPDAT.PUP.

If i understand you correct you are on CFW in kiosk mode.. I didn't know is possible, but i try to help you. To exit kiosk mode you need to use reverter firmware. This is normal ofw but with patch that allow install to kiosk PS3's. There is also (theoretical) option to build cfw reverter, but you want go back to ofw.

If you firmware is 4.70 or below just download and install from recovery pup that match to your firmware version from that site: Kiosk FW Reverters + Reverter Tutorial - PS3 Tutorials - PlayStationHaX
If you are on 4.75 then you need to build reverter by yourself, tutorial is also there.

that is very true. I tried to read, research, test, and consolidate all information into one post, but most never bothered. they just assumed someone else would do it for them, but with a lot of devs, such as Aldo and Habib, calling it quits, there r fewer and fewer people who know what they're doing. I only posted all of my information for there to be a record, perhaps even on ps3devwiki which has been asked of me, but a lot of that information was deleted by certain admins/sites that got angry whenever I'd call out people's ********. the ps3 scene is full of opportunism - people who want to profit or gain efame. when have I ever done that? if I wanted profit, I would've posted somewhere else other than mediafire; if I wanted efame, I would've neglected to give credit to those who discovered how this or that works. if u look at my tutorials, the vast majority of those credited rn't even in the scene anymore which makes me a repository which is further extended by the fact that I've read so much on ps3devwiki in order to start my understanding of the system. having been in the ps3 scene for a while, it's very clear most people r sony fanboys, so many r likely to be a part of the ps4 scene rather than the xbone one...assuming there ever is one really. what I can say is based on personal experience. there's not a day that goes by that I don't regret being involved with the ps3 scene. the way I was treated, the fact that most people don't care about anything besides themselves, being banned from a number of sites for speaking my mind (mostly anger and frustration towards those who r selfish within the scene). I don't have to be here. I don't ask questions or need help with the system. I can get anything I want from usenet without my input. I was always here to help, because so few bother to read. I was involved in countless dev work in the shadows, because I don't care about my own credit. that's never what I wanted. however, I also didn't want or expect the shear hatred that was spewed my way. 'tis the reason I'll be forever silent with any future scene. in fact, one person actually said this to me: "I hope learned ur lesson. this is what happens when u get involved and people don't care." at the present, I'm perfect content with my wii-u. I don't need nor want an xbone or ps4. I probably never will considering the 360 and ps3 scenes. I never played the games, so it's kinda pointless for me.

if u mean me, it wasn't meant to be that way. I did all that stuff for one site, and I'm still angry as hell about it over a year later especially when some people call into question my integrity. those people don't even know me. heck, someone I know had her apartment robbed, lost everything even her dishes and her bed. the only thing they didn't take was her cat. I gave her money to rebuy what she had lost. it's those little things that people might ought to know about me.

or are your trying to install this from OFW higher then 3.55?

 

My firmware is the OFW 4.75 atm, should I wait for a new Firmware or what? Sorry i'm new to this stuff..

 

Read a little bit about downgrading the ps3 man, get some elementary basics about jailbreaking. You can't install CFW on 4.75 OFW, only after you downgrade with a programmer.
