PS3 4.76 FERROX CFW (CEX) - by Alexander

Following that recent surprise Official Firmware Update of v4.76 that brought nothing new. Developer Alexander began working on his latest CFW and the developer has released 4.76 FERROX CFW (CEX). Ciao alexander, innanzitutto grazie per il lavoro che fai. Volevo chiederti come mai ogni volta che faccio un download dal psn dopo 5 minuti la ps3 va in freeze ?
Sono costretto a riavviarla e continuare il download.
Questo è accaduto con l'attuale 4.76 ma anche col 4.75. Il tuo precedente cfw al 4.75 se non erro era il 4.70, cmq quello precedente al 4.75, non mi ha mai causato questo tipo di problema.
Ho ricostruito il database, dopo l'aggiornamento. Potresti darmi un consiglio per evitare questo problema ? ho una ps3 slim 120 gb CECH 2004A

Why i have this problem ? there was also 4.75, no in 4.70.
If you have a solution please tell me.

I have personally tested on various consoles, downloading DLC and demo from the PSN and I have not encountered freeze or crashing. Please try again with restoring database and file system.

CEX = Near retail firmware with ability to run unsigned code (or ofw but for your question my answer is better - same DEX)
DEX = Modified Debug firmware with some additional ability for developers (most useful for games developers, homebrew in 80% don't need debug firmware functions), additional settings.
REX = is cex that can be converted to dex in less than 5 minutes without flashing or updating
D-REX = is dex that can be converted to cex in less than 5 minutes without flashing or updating
DB OFW = Is basically OFW with ability to return to CFW . Usefull for online purposes, but can't run homebrew and backups
SEX = OFW in kiosk/shop mode (not able to run unsigned code)
Reverter FW = firmware that reverting from SEX to OFW (cex)

Yes but remember to unmount game, remove BD (game and movie), and disconnect internet connection before update.

Hi ... i'm new to jailbreaking .... i have recently bought a jailbroken PS3 and i have no idea which cfw is it on .... All i know is that it is on 4.70 .... My question is will this 4.76 cfw work over my current 4.70 cfw .... do i need to downgrade to ofw 3.55 first .... or ...can i just update via usb storage to install this cfw ????

You do not need to make any downgrade. Just plug in the USB CFW and install quietly from the XMB.

Although you cant install cfw, u may wish to consider installing a cobra ode device,if u plan to play backups,
Or get a lower model ps3 such as a 20xx series or fat wich u then can pay somebody to downgrade/install cfw,
Or just purchase a modded ps3

hey guys

since theres no time frame on when habib will be releasing his version of 4.76 with cobra, i was wondering if i can install ferrox directly over habib cobra 4.65 or if i should go to habib cobra 4.75.

since people are saying there isnt much difference between 4.76 and 4.75, will i still be able to log into psn if i go with habib cobra 4.75? i dont really play online, i just log in to update games like pes and fifa squad rosters.

keep in mind as long as webman, multiman + showtime and psnpatch works. im good. basically thats all i use. will showtime still detect my NTFS HDD coz currenlty they work 100% and i'd like to keep it that way.

any help is welcome.

to the developers: thanks for all the support you have given us over the years.

Hello friends. Can I install the cfw without doing the recovery steps? As I've game data installed, I don't want to lose it. And if I do it, all the data will be lost. And I know the backup options.. But it takes a lot of time.. So, please help me.. Can I install it without recovery? And will I be able to play online again using PSN spoofer?

You don't loose anything by installing via recovery !
Only if you select the initialisation options which are not needed to install firmware !!!!
But you should be able to install from the XMB
