4.78 Custom Firmware (CFW) & Updated Homebrew Apps

Help guys!

Guys Im a complete noob in here! I updated to official 4.78 and lost all webman and stuff. Now how can I get it back pls? Sorry for stupid question. Im pretty lost!
 
Will someone please tell me which CFW I need to use on official 4.78 to get back package isntall menu and etc? I cant understand anything! So many CFW!

If you've updated to OFW then its a lot harder than that to go back , its gonna cost you money, you will need to buy a hardware flasher (like teensy or maybe e3flasher if you've a slim) or pay someone to do it is probably better in your case as you need to open up your PS3.

You need to be very careful when on CFW that you don't update to official FW, that's like rule No.1!
 
sorry if someone has asks already I havnt been since last year.
if I update to latest cfw can I still use psnpatch? has it been updated?

the app is firmware independent, therefore does not need updates (anymore) to support new firmwares.

There's a typo there. The app is not firmware dependent you meant to say.
[MENTION=9054]alfiedizzle[/MENTION] PSNpatch works on any firmware, which is why the developer no longer names it based on the firmware it was updated to work on, he simply names the versions based on the date it was released.

Yea, was drinking my coffee. What is very funny. i had it correct at first then i edited it put not in front.. had the coffee but only a sip at the time.. lol :)

MY Dear Friends. i need your help. i have PS3 CECH-3003B on 4.78 OFW. i would like to jailbreak it, so would guys like to help to jailbreak it or guide to do so. your help will be really appreciated. Regards

To begin with, there is no easy way to jailbreak a console on OFW 4.xx just using a USB key like you can see on some YT videos. That's fake.

To jailbreak, you need to use a hardware flasher to downgrade the console to fw 3.55. After that you can install any CFW you want.
There are 2 types of fat consoles.
First, models CECHA to CECHG are NAND based consoles. They can be downgraded with a Progskeet or Teensy++ 2.0 + à NAND TSOP 48pin clip. The clip alone is expensive, with the board it will cost you about 60 to 70 bucks.
Secondly, if your fat console is more recent, models CECHH to CECHQ, you need either a Teensy++ 2.0 & à NOR 56pin clip or a E3 flasher. The E3 kit is maybe a bit cheaper, around 50 bucks from China.
Note that there are many clones of those flashers, most of them work ok but some are dodgy.
You also need some good thermal paste like some Arctic Silver MX4.

There are specific links for NAND downgrades. For NOR downgrades with E3, the best guide is probably the one written by playerkp420.

Those 2 well known members are available in this forum if you encounter any difficulties with your downgrade.

Remember that downgrading requires not only hardware but also some knowledge & skills because there are some risks of bricking.

If you don't feel up to doing the downgrade yourself, a professional can do it for the same price as you are going to invest anyway so it's up to you.

Read post #56 if your console is a fat model.
If it's a slim, models CECH250x to CECH250x then your chip is NOR so the same advice as fat consoles with NOR apply.
However if it's a CECH250x in particular, you still need to check what the minimum installable version is on your console by using MinVerChk.

Another option would be to try using the new 4.70 hack but as you are on 4 78, it's problematic & apparently only some games may work.

but now I jailbrocken in 3.55, new game disc need higher version so I accidentally up to 4.78, I can jailbreak again?(ex:use safe mode ubgrade...etc)

If you are back on OFW 4.78 then you lost jailbreak completely.
You are back to square one & need a hardware flasher to downgrade the console if you want to install a CFW again.
There is no other way...

You should have considered updating instead of remaining in 3.55 anyway, nowadays it makes no sense to use 3.55 when you have great Cobra 4.xx CFWs.
