PS3 4.78 Starbucks + COBRA v7.30 by Habib

{UPDATE - FEB.16) The new COBRA V7.30 has arrived and its included in Habib's latest cfw release 4.78 STARBUCKS (COBRA), comes equipped with the latest version of COBRA (v7.30). With this latest version of Cobra developer's Habib & Mysis were able to finally eliminate some of the limitation and annoyances in Cobra's PS2emu, such as the controller sync issue when launching PS2ISO from the XMB's disc icon. While habib himself provided a workaround using the PS2 Launcher, this bug has finally been squashed. There was also some other changes in this update to Cobra's PS2emu [break]ss[/break] that should improve the overall experience. Habib firmware comes with his usual patches and features such as OtherOS compatibility & CINAVIA patches, view all the details of this firmware in the release details provided by developer habib.

TBH I have not tried disabling Cobra with the combo for a while. The fact that Cobra has changed shouldn't matter at all.
When the combo works, I assume that all it does is renaming stage2.bin anyway. Cannot remember how exactly, either stage2_disabled.bin or stage2.bin.bak...something like that.
You can check in /dev_flash/sys/habib. What do you see there before using the combo & after?
In any case, if it renames stage2.bin then the combo works & you must reboot afterwards to see the effects if wMM doesn't do it for you.

Sorry if it's not /dev_flash/sys then It could be in /dev_flash/habib actually. And stage2.bin could be called stage2.cex if enabled & stage2_disabled.cex if disabled.
Enabling /dev_blind is only necessary if you need to make changes in /dev_flash otherwise it's not needed.

Yeah full edition 1.43.26, but i removed the vsh plugin from auto loading.
Fairly clean install too. Put new hdd in and installed over ofw so shouldn't be any conflicting old files.

Also have psnpatch and mm installed. Other then that its a clean system.

I have habib 4.78 cobra installed and webman-mod 1.43.26. When I use the combo to disable cobra I get an xmb message saying "cobra toggle activated" then another one saying

"cobra is active
deactivating cobra"

Then another one saying

"switching successful. reboot now"

Then of course my ps3 reboots and cobra is no longer active, and I have to enable dev_blind to rename stage2_disabled.bin back to stage2.bin. and after another reboot cobra is active again.
I am using a cech-210X What model ps3 do you have?

my /dev_flash/sys just has two folders, internel and external. Plus the stage2.bin file.
Also no /dev_flash/habib either.

Ok. It's a different path (and extension) on different CFW flavours.
The main thing is that you found it.
Do the combo now, do you get the message from wMM then the reboot?
On reboot does the stage2.bin have a different name?

According to the wMM source code, if the stage2.bin is located in /dev_flash/sys then it should be detected & disabled.(togglers.h lines 192-196)
I dunno what could be wrong if it doesn't work...

On this firmware stage2.bin is located in dev_flash/sys.
Previous versions did have the stage2.bin located in a folder called habib.

Yeah I see that hence the confusion...
However the toggle should work just as well as /dev_flash/sys is one of the paths that wMM checks for Cobra.

I wonder if its because I installed cleanly over OFW. Maybe it was expecting something to be there from a previous version?
Ill try update over the top and see if it changes.

I have no desire to disable cobra personally, but still strange it won't work.

I doubt that this is the problem. /dev_flash gets erased & rewritten when you install a CFW.

Yes got the pics now. That would have avoided earlier confusion actually...

I'll just put it down as another cechlxx mystery then.
Something funky about these models.

Still suffers from the webman dynamic fan control bug causing my fan to ramp up to 100% in recovery if enable it.

We bought skylander for my son and update it on 4.6 OFW so we he can play it. Now I want to install 4.78 starbucks but it will stop on 70% and its written that its corrupt ( I already installed the 4.78 OFW ). This is my first time to try to jailbreak my ps3 .So what should i need to do? Any help will much appreciated. Thank you!

It is amazing how much trouble some people will go through (registering, taking and uploading pics after recreating error, blaming kids, etc...). All because they didn't read a couple sentences. :onfire:

 

This is why I do not do mods for others. Not because I feel better then others just that most just want the free games. Doing it yourself gives the knowledge to do things. I see so many "someone modded my system with CFW then I updated to OFW to play the game I just bought and now I can't load my apps anymore". The people selling the modded systems are just profiting off others work which is wrong as well.

Yeah, time to pay someone to downgrade it again mate. No way round it.

At least with the ps3 going EOL that shouldn't be a problem for much longer.

I only touch systems for good mates and do it for free. Usually get a bottle out of it anyway as a thank you.

Nah sorry mate, If you've gone back to an official firmware higher then 3.55 you will need a hardware downgrader to go back to 3.55 OFW then reinstall your CFW from there.

I had the same problem, I was on CFW from day one. (Gave up on the PS3 when 3.21 killed my linux install) Then fired her up again when 3.55 came out and the magic happened.
Then one day someone couldn't get the controller to sync and thought updating it might fix it (How the hell they upgraded it if the controller supposedly wasn't syncing I'll never know)....
Ended up having to pay someone to downgrade it for me. (Cheaper then buying the hardware yourself if you're only going to do one system)
PITA, but It happens.

 

what is the difference between cobra 7.20 and 7.30? i mean what is the new feature in 7.30 apart from the wireless controller sync issue.thanks for the cfw [MENTION=20]habib[/MENTION]
