PS3 4.83 FERROX (w/ COBRA v7.55) CFW by Alexander

Following the 4.83 Official Firmware update for the PS3, not only did it close the PS3Xploit's for installing CFW on 4.82 and also the HAN Exploit, but it also means its time for a round of Custom Firmware updates for excising CFW user's. So if your first experience on CFW was on 4.82 on your on 4.82 CFW, then all you do is update to a 4.83 CFW of your choice and install the pup the same way you would an official update from a USB STORAGE DEVICE, but of course with the CFW PUP. This release of 4.83 FERROX COBRA CFW from developer @Alexander is a Cobra CFW, so it has all the features of a Standard CFW, plus contains the special Cobra payload which provides background running plugin support, PS3/PS2/PS1/PSP ISO Support some of the features this payload provides, (note standard CFW can install MAMBA and replicate many COBRA features) All details of this release can be found in the Translated notes found below from developer Alexander.​

  It is the first Custom Firmware of the 'most famous' ones. Do not trust too much of the unknown CFW that you find around the web, because they may have been built with the MFW tool, which certainly is not the best way to do a CFW.

Hello,I have just one question.How can I use ftp that is in ferrox cobra cfw. I read somewhere online that if You have cobra cfw you can acces ftp even when in game. I tried it using port 21 and it gave me back some error,then i tried sftp(22) and it gave me this response:

I am on Rebug 4.81.2 and debating updating to this possibly. How is the new XMB in this version and how does it look? Can anybody show off a small video of the custom Wave and XMB that it was talking about in the features please?

Not sure what way you are actually trying to do this, but I will give you the way I do it that works for me every time.

Connect PC to PS3,
enable network settings on PS3,
Launch Multiman, (Leave Multiman running),
Launch Filzilla on PC,
enter your PS3 IP address with ftp prefix (ftp://192.168.1.7),
Then press Quick connect,

When I do this it connects my machines and allows transfers, one thing to look out for, in the Multiman settings, change the timeout settings to not timeout, I had been transferring a file for over an hour and my PS3 then shut down because of inactivity.

If I have Rebug Rex 4.82.2 installed with all my games and homewbrew apps set up, can I install this over the current cfw without any problems or conflicts? I'm still kinda new to the scene but I'm learning fast so don't be afraid to go into detail. Thanks.

webMAN MOD has an always-on FTP server, without having to run multiMAN. Since webMAN is a plugin, it starts when you boot the system and so there's no need to launch any application as it's already running in the background. Hope this helps.
