PS3 4.85 CFW & PS3HEN (Homebrew / Tools / CFW Releases / PS3HEN Updates)

me too, but I did install ferrox to sign in to grab my act.dat when I got this new ps3. ferrox is very good also. I haven't tried the others.
 
not sure if this is where I should ask. I've got the latest Rebug Toolbox (I believe) and trying to dump my eid_root_key. My ultimate goal is to remarry a new logic board and bluray drive to the motherboard, so I've installed Overflow 4.85 nobd as without the nobd my rebug toolbox just gives a black screen.

When i get into rebug toolbox, there is no longer an option for dumping the key. This system has japanese controller layout, but not sure that would change the way you go about remarrying the new logic board.

Any ideas ?? Thanks.
 
changing button layout can be done with the xregistry and xregistry editor or through one of the debug settings (think it's debug v2). you can't dump the erk with rebug toolbox on any firmware other than theirs. I think it's due it being needed to swap from cex to dex. I don't think the option is even available.
 
was dumping the eid_root_key in overflow on 4.84 with north american systems. This time around, the option isn't there and I have a few other options now. Only just got the system running so had to update to 4.85 and no luck getting the key. Usually install overflow nobd, dump the key, install rebug, remarry and then back to OFW to resell.

I ask you about CFW 4.85 REBUG, if you are working on its release, or do you expect someone to release OFW DEX 4.85?
I suppose PSN online with CFW REBUG 4.84.2 is not possible?

1.) I am not a developer or a developer on the REBUG team..
So no I am not working on a release.

2.) There are two flavors of REBUG CFW
-- One is REBUG LITE (100% CEX based CFW w/ Cobra)
----- This one could be created now, but not sure if the team has interest or time yet
----- Other is REBUG REX (a hybrid of CEX/DEX in order for this to be created the public needs a DEX 4.85 PUP, those take time to trickle out. Sometimes months, sometimes weeks.. It just appears from anyone who make them public. Once that happens that is when typically when REBUG creates a REX Firmware. However it all depends on the teams time and desire's...
---- In the meantime there is nothing wrong with using 4.84 REBUG.. You can spoof for PSN access (any psn access has a ban risk, but many do this with no issues.)

If the system only checks for console permanent things and not randon things generated each install, I think it should work. Just be sure to have the exact same CFW ou had before. UPDATE!! : It works!!! I just had to wait for the flash writer to be released so I could re-jb my console and monkey things back to 4.84.2, then I could swap back to my actual drive. Now it is working perfect like before I screwed with it except for the console and account ban I mentioned somewhere I think on page 3 of this thread... maybe it was 4, i don't remember but the point remains.

I m newbie to jailbreak.
i just jailbreak my ps3 one month before with 4.84 Rebug and now 4.85 has released.

i want to reassured, that i don't accidentally update to a new firmware that can't be jailbroken or cause any problem.

Could you please, let me know, if there is a way to lock the XMB or just the update settings,
using 4.84 or the latest 4.85 Rebug firmware?

XMB lock is working only until 4.82.

In addition, is the ps3netsrv, firmware dependent, or i can use it with any firmware including the latest 4.85 firmware?

Just turn off automatic updates and you should be fine? If you're paranoid disconnect completely from the internet first, but as far as I know you can't really update by accident as such - it requires several confirmations.

There is no 4.85 Rebug yet (see posts above...)
But if you somehow manage to update by accident, 4.85 has Overflow CEX cfw for now, which I tried on one of my PS3's. Works fine and all, but I'd just stay on 4.84 either indefinitely or until a new Rebug arrives if I were you.

No idea what ps3netserv is, so can't say anything about that. Maybe someone else knows.

Automatic updates is the first thing that I disable.

But I m most worried about the kids updating the PS3 accidentally, due to the fact that English isn't their native language and several selection like PSN, quick sign in, etc.. goes straight to the update setting.

Ps3netsrv enables you to play games stored on a nas, pc/mac through lan.

Depends if people give the team OFW 4.85 DEX (the more, the better, acording with the TXT they provide), and if they want to do it. 4.83 didn't come out. Could take weeks or months.
 
I have a console on Overflow 4.85 .. new system to me, so only installed HFW 4.85, exploit and now I'm sitting with overflow. Any way to head back to 4.84 ? rebug toolbox has a lot of options not available because I'm not on rebug. What are my options other than putting it on the shelf until rebug returns ?
 
qa flag if you want to downgrade. I've never tried overflow, but I have downgraded from both rebug and ferrox.
