PS3 4.86 OFW Released + 4.86 Custom Firmware / PS3HEN / Apps / Tools Updates

@DeViL303 is HEN ready yet? just asking coz they said 24hr now when i go on ps3 and do the hen install it goes to 100% then it says preparing then my ps freeze
 
For all the people that are updating and then asking for help, why can´t you just wait untill some official post?! The title here says it clearly "DO NOT UPDATE".
We´re all in the same situation and you are overwhemlig this thread with questions that do not have an answer or a concrete answer yet and all you do is just create confusion! GOD!

Search for sen enabler 6.25 it's the latest one,for spoofing 4.86, install that and you're back online. Or the webman mod of putting the ps3-update.txt file in root of hdd0 drive in ps3 thru multiman.

After owning for years; soft-modded PS2's (even own a aqua blue ps2), A fake Net Yaroze (with water-slide decals) I thought it was the time now with quarantine to make the step to a PS3.

In the settings it says I am on 4.80, after running the MinVerChk (as a fake update file) it tells me i am on a 2.70 (slim 2004b pal version).
I assume i am safe to try a jailbreak?

I am totally new to jailbreaking but want to follow Mario's tutorial, it is well explained.

Planning to play mostly survival horror titles, do I need to wait for the 4.86.1 OR is it ok to go with a 4.85.1 in my case (does one actualy need online for these survival horror games) ?

Correct. You are safe to patch your system to allow CFW to install.

4.85 will do fine, you really don't need to be online for most stuff.

You might need to wait a few days for safe tested tools for 4.86 so just go with 4.85 for now following Mr Marios tutorial.
 
It turns out HFW for 4.86 was released recently. I've installed it. I just have to wait for HEN Installer tool. Just temporarily playing games on disc until tools are good to go.

Hey everyone. I need a little guidance. I just pulled out my old ps3 and was gonna update my cfw.. but then I saw this update.

I'm on Rebug 4.81 DEX/Cobra 7.5.

Is there a specific version I should update to? Or a different cfw? Or wait until somebody patches this new 4.86?

Thanks. I'm a little lost after ~2 years.

4.86 will take several weeks to be as good as 4.85 and previous updates..
Unless you need to update for a specif reasons there is no rush to do. The firmware biggest change is the number lol..

if you use the blu ray player for new movies then a good idea to stay current. but typically a movie/video that needs it will signal an update is needed.
 
Ye I shoulda waited. Did the HFW update and now no games work so there is no point. Now I am stuck with 4.86 and can't do anything with it.
Or is there a way to solve this? Or just wait as the tools come out.
Questions:
1.Anyway to solve the mess from my update HFW?My tools and games are dead now (should I reinstall the games?)
2 Anyway I can get back online or must I wait now until the new software updates catch up to my silly mistake.
3. Alot of questions are being left un-answered as I see. Hopefully this one can be answered, I know others are probably in my shoes now lol.(Am I fucked?)

You can update to Rebug 4.84.2 if you want to preserve your DEX status or Rebug 4.85.1 but CEX (there´s no DEX version yet) but it´s not THAT necessary. You can "get into the game" again doing this or you can just wait ´till Rebug 4.86.1 or another CFW to be updated

Thanks for the replies. I might update to 4.84.2 Dex just to familiarize myself and go from there. I'm glad to see there is still an active mod community.
