Well, the feature to install a CFW (only available for PS3 models compatibles with a CFW installation, not sure if yours is one of them) has been implemented just a few hours ago, so i dont think people had time to make a video, at least not a serious one :D

But the toolset is very easy to use really, keep in mind everything you do in the toolset is completly safe except the feature that allows to write the patch in the flash chip (and even that writing is very safe)

With this i mean... most of the options of the toolset are "volatile", doesnt makes any change in the PS3 so you can use them as many times you want becaue after a reboot the PS3 is going to have exactly the sme data than before... nothing was modifyed

So dont get scared by the toolset... try some of the functions (like doing a flash dump for backup purposes) and get used to it... keep an eye at the logs, and mess around with it a bit
The toolset is not going to allow you do do anything stupid, is designed to be safe and monkey proof

Btw, for the newcomers reading this... when talking about your PS3 in forums (with the purpose of asking about exploits, firmwares etc...) you always need to tell your exact PS3 model (CECH****)
Is very important to tell it, if you dont tell the other person is going to ask you about it and you will need to tell it anyway, so to short that questions is better to tell it since begining :)

The toolset is going to do exactly the same in your PS3 if you have 4.86 HFW or 4.86 OFW... is the same procedure

Is going to write a patch in your flash chip (the file i was talking about in other thread), this patch allows to install a CFW. After that you install rebug 4.86 lite on top of the patched flash chip, and thats all

*And remember to make a backup of your flash chip contents at the first step (before writing in it)... just incase, is good to keep this backup at safe incase you need it at some point

I feel like I'm doing something wrong. Fat PS3 CECHG01. These are the steps I've taken so far:

Downloaded OFW 4.86 PUP from Sony, placed on USB stick and installed via Recovery Mode
Navigated to ** www.** ** www.ps3xploit.net > D... (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com)/bgtoolset, downloaded and applied the Flash Memory Patch, got success message
Rebooted Console
Downloaded Rebug 4.86.1 LITE PUP and placed on USB stick.

Attempts to install Rebug both via XMB and Recovery Mode fail with a Data Is Corrupt error.

Am I doing something wrong? or just falling victim to new software?

Install 4.86.1 HFW over OFW 4.86 and then try again. Regular OFW isn't exploitable whereas HFW is, which is why you were getting the data corruption error when trying to install CFW.

I tried installing HFW 4.86.1 via XMB and it tells me there is no applicable update on my device. when i boot into Recovery Mode and try the same thing, it give me a message about needing update data of "version ffff.ffff or later", which seems odd, like it doesn't know what version I'm on

Did you renamed the CFW file as "PS3UPDAT.PUP" ?
 
It is safe to run official ps3 youtube by connecting to psn?
I don't want to be banned, sorry I'm a noobie.


Also, can I install and run latest multiman on rebug 4.86 ?

I have PS3 HFW 4.85 hen 3.0.1 and I want to go to HFW 4.86. My question is:
1. Do I need to install OFW first or just download Offical HFW 4.86 from exploit and install it directly over my current HFW.

2. Where can I download bguerville toolset? I need to check if my PS3 is compatible for CFW or no!

1. Just install HFW 4.86 over your 4.85 and then reinstall the latest HEN. HFW is basically OFW for all intents and purposes, anyway.

2. Access the following URL on your PS3:

I would also highly recommend reading the release thread for the PS3 Toolkit, which has some helpful information about using the site.

if you use nopsn youtube you want have to login to psn at all for youtube. get it from link below. use pkg for your region. use nopsn for cfw (nopshen is for hen).

yes latest multiman works on 4.86 but it may report your firmware as 4.85.

This is not true and is the whole point of the new exploit. It supports all firmware 4.82+

The toolset can work with any OFW, HFW, CFW, but HFW is recommended for HEN users only and to use Dumper and Memory editor for non-CFW models, because the current toolset does not have a HEN Enabler or Installer built to run on OFW

Sorry about that, I was in the old mindset where HFW was needed. I'll remember for future reference. Apologies to @jobafett2012 and any others for the inaccurate information from me earlier.
