PS3 4.86 OFW Released + 4.86 Custom Firmware / PS3HEN / Apps / Tools Updates

goto where it says sytem update and scroll down to system settings. enter that menu and go down to system information (i think it is next to last one). the system version is told there.

if you have newer update maybe you can still run hen.

Sorry, forgot to say that I'm stuck at 8002f1f9 loop. Can't access XMB anymore. On recovery mode, it says I have to insert a USB with at least 4.81 OFW. So, I guess it's 4.81 that was running. I tried formating HDD (I don't care about downloaded games/content/savegames) and running any other OFW or even MFW. Tried to do myself a 4.81 to 4.85 MFW with noBT only and no success at all (I guess the keys are not working or CECH-3004B can't run it. I really don't know if it's really needed to downgrade to 3.55 or bellow to install any MFW. So well, tried most of solutions found on many youtube videos or forums.

your model cant use cfw/mfw. some users can update with bad bt but some can not. i guess it depends on how broken it is.

i would try 4.86 HFW to be sure (you want hfw not ofw because hfw needed for HEN exploit).

also i think that error may sometimes be hard drive. if you have another (with nothing on it because it will format) you might try that too.

the bt should be easy to fix...if you can get a new part.

yes, you can install ofw over hfw.

BUT hen needs hfw to work.

if you do NOT want hen...ofw is ok.
 
My CECH-4004A is updated to OFW 4.86, i can't setup HFW 4.86 on it, it shows "no update found".
There's a tuto for this problem?

So my ultimate goal is to be able to play downloaded games on it, I don't need internet/online access with it at all. I don't need and don't want to use any account on it. Just put the game into HDD and play it (at least that's how I imagine how it works).

What options do I have? Can I JailBreak it, or "only" make it HEN-abled? I also read somewhere that HEN is "less persistent then JailBreak", so do I need to make it HEN every time I turn it on or what?

After I JailBreak or HEN-able it - do I have to keep updating it or can I just happily use it for the next 20 years without ever updating any firmware/software/JB/HEN/etc...?

I hope I'm not asking too much, it's just that I have nave had any console (except old times with Ziliton and Sega) and I have no expertise in JB'ing them.

Some backup managers like forks of Iris Manager use patched libfs and explore_plugin to improve the game compatibility (i.e. black screens) when the manager is used without Cobra/Mamba/PS3HEN payload. It was the original method for "BDEMU".

These files (do not rename) can be placed in /dev_hdd0/game/IRISMAN00

However they are not longer needed because Cobra/Mamba/PS3HEN already apply the patches for BDEMU directly in LV2 memory.

A couple of old school iris managers was released yesterday(EOL, oficcial iris thread),if someone want to use them(play manager, monster manager) just do it. Here are the files. I f a non-cobra/mamba cfw were released...this is the tool. Gracias Aldo por la explicación.

hello guys,
i have a super slim ps3 with 4.81 firmware and i want to jailbreak. is better to update to 4.86 oficial firmware and then install HEN, or to jailbreak using current firmware (4.81)? thx
