PS3 4.89 Update is Live! - Discussions / Details about the firmware update

Hi everyone, please I need help with my ps3 fat(cechG04).
I was on evilnat 4.88(no but no blu-ray), then a friend connected it to internet and updated to Sony's ofw 4.89, ever since then, when I try playing game, it'll end with this error code "8001050f".
I've removed the cmos battery, changed it, updated the date and time, nothing works, whenever I want to install the hfw, it won't be displayed via the update page unless I install via safe mode, I've installed the hfw and hen, but still, my games aren't working, please help
Have you checked that the clock is working properly?

It's 4.89hfw, can I install a cfw?
not yet, the tool is still on the works. Although you can downgrade to 4.88 and install CFW 4.89 from there

Yes, the clock's working properly and how do I downgrade from 4.89 OFW/HFW?
Oh, I´m sorry, you can´t ´till the toolbox is updated to 4.89. You´ll have to wait although you should be able to use HEN and, if the clock is working, what tf is wrong then? I´m sorry but my knowledge ends here

I've installed hen but my games aren't starting, it'll just show the "8001050f" error code and the time's correct, I updated it via internet

Probably the internal clock is not working. Diconnect the console from the internet, then set the clock, power the console off and disconnect it from the wall, wait for about a minute, reconnect it, turn it on and then check the time. If the time is wrong or it got reset, then your internal clock is not working and you should take it to a repair shop; if the time is still correct... idk... call the Ghostbusters(?

When i can use act/idps dumper? i lost mine and since yesterday i saw that it is disable for 4.89, so have to wait or there is another way to do that?

Did this happen after the 4.89 update? I updated it with the original PUP file, but nothing like this appeared for me.

Hello I have a problem if somebdoy can help me
I am trying to upgrade to 4.89 but after updating but before installing the hen i tried signing in my psn network but when i generate my device configuration password i tried inputting it in the pasword bar the text and buttons window that is supposed to show up does not show up all that happens is that the screen gets a little darker when i press the x button to edit.
Does anybody know what the problem is?

HFW 4.89 replaces one of the tar files in the PUP with one from an older version that is exploitable.
Once you have HFW installed, but before install HEN, your system has a mix of system files that may cause unexpected results.
You should install HEN to get the proper system files installed. HEN installer replaces these old files with the proper ones from 4.89

If you're using webMAN MOD, the PSN login will be locked while HEN in enabled.
To unlock the login screen you must disable the CFW syscalls using the combo R2+TRIANGLE.

do not do the internet update (you will lose jailbreak). download latest cfw (evilnat 4.89 from this forum) and install from usb.

If you try to login to PSN and you don't have the new generated code this will deactivate your console ? Or Sony has deactivated them all ?

Probably are the positions and sizes of the QR code image (4 values)... and the other 3 dunno... probably the text that is displayed with it (remember text objects have the standard position, size, and other value for the font size of something like that, not sure if is still marked as unknown in the "rcomage psdevwiki mod")

The problem of what you are suggesting (taking the layout.txt files from 4.88 to use them in 4.89) is with them you are going to need to copy all the rco files from 4.88 too

Is a bit tricky to explain, but you know how it works... the "rcoxml objects" inside the rco files contains tenths of values that are a reference to load the real values from the layout.txt files

The layout.txt files from 4.88 contains 4595 lines (all the values loaded by the complete rco collection from 4.88). And the new 7 values added are located at line 2580
This means all the values located after line 2580 has been displaced... so all the rcos ffrom 4.89 that loads values from lines bigger than 2580 are not going to be able to find the value in the layout.txt from 4.88

The real problem is we dont have a list of who is the "owner" of each value inside the layout.txt files... so we dont know how many rco files are going to be broken if you use the layout.txt from 4.88 in 4.89 :(

Dunno, im still thinking in it but i dont see any easy solution by now

EDIT:
I just updated this wiki page, if there is some other info worthy to be added tell me
https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/XMB_Layouts

EDIT:
Btw... a rought calulation.... if the layout.txt file had 4595 lines, and the displacement happened in line 2580.... it means around 50% (probably a lot more) of the rco files has been "updated" (different MD5 when compared with 4.88)... but the only difference in them are that references (has been added +7 units of displacement) to load the values from a different line in the layout.txt files

@Evilnat I don't know how it looks while R.E with IDA Pro, but if the layout lines are readable, wouldn't it be worth adding the +7 offset to all the offsets for the values that define the layout lines after line 2580? so it works it can fix the trophies issue
