PS3 4.90 CFW Upgrade Path

I want to upgrade my PS3 (Fat) to the newest CFW ([PEX][CEX] preferably), but I don't know if it's possible.

I've been long gone from the PSX-Scene. So long I even lost my account. Finding the right information is...difficult...for my use case.

So, my PS3 is already jailbroken. I used the "E3 Flasher" back then, to downgrade to a specific firmware and flash a CFW afterward. That was 3.40. A few years later, I must have upgraded up to 4.66.
Since this is what mmCM is displaying.
4.66 [SC-35 | PL-3]
COBRA 7.00 compatible

Can I safely upgrade to the newest CFW Evilnat 4.90 Cobra 8.4 [PEX] [CEX] firmware?
Or are other steps necessary?
