4.93 EVILNAT (Cobra 8.5)

PS3 4.93 Evilnat w/ Cobra v8.5 - (CEX/PEX/D-PEX) 4.93

Im trying to CFW fat ps3, after getting verify dump i have 1 warning: Following check(s) returned a WARNING!
011.02 cell_ext_os_area 0xFF Filled Area 0. it is safe to continue?
cell_ext_os_area is a region dedicated to otherOS (Linux) installation related data, you can ignore the warning, it should be safe to continue.

Can I ask could you figure out geohot glitching? While hypervisor is possible on 3k/4k with hardware hacks.. lv0 hasn't been achieved yet. If we could fill in the holes for evilnat cfw before ps4 permanent jailbreak comes out first

I just noticed some different behavior with the music player.
In the previous FW I was using you could press the PS button and go back. Now it just asks if you want exit the music player.

What gives? I miss being able to play another track without having to stop music.

Go to Music Settings and change de bitrate or something like that, lower it and you'll be able to use the PS button

I was talking about music already on the system's hdd. And there has been no change since I updated.

@Evilnat:
I have another idea. Do you think it is possible to allow background music to play in-game that has the flag enabled?

For instance, webman mod has such a (buggy) plugin that can allow you to do this when you enable the background music flag in the PARAM.SFO, but when you exit the game/program or turn off the system it will freeze and beep multiple times.

In some earlier games like Oblivion though the param.sfo editor in PS3 tools will not allow it to be enabled. So maybe an override/spoof option could be added in the CFW settings area. I read that enabling background music uses more cpu so that's why I recommended a toggle option.

Bug report: PS2 ISO games fail to launch, system requires to be rebooted to work again.

The error occurs with the following conditions:

1. PS/PS2 upscaler within "Game settings" via xmb is set to off, so a 480p signal is delivered via HDMI output.
2. ps2_netemu is used.

Both webman mod and managunz were tested, the issue persist regardless what launcher is used.
The games work properly if using ps2_gxemu, also when upscaler is set to "Normal."
PS2 classics were NOT tested. PS1 games are fine.
This is on 4.90 PEX firmware CEX mode.

How do i know what is the right one to download for a 4.84 DEX please? going to try this CFW over Rebugs. thank you :)

Do you use an SSD?

And that's with the following conditions, correct?

Otherwise PS2 ISOs work fine for me as well.

Yes. No problems on my end.

My model only runs games from the internal HDD.

Did you remember to apply the patch AFTER loading it (patching is a 2 step process)?
If so, were you invited by the Toolset to reboot and install a CFW after successful patch application?
If so, install CFW 4.90.
There is no risk involved in trying to install a CFW pup, if it fails, no harm done.

Alternatively you can check first whether or not your Flash memory has been patched successfully.

One way to do that is to load the Toolset, dump your Flash memory to a file on USB and analyse it with the latest pyps3checker from github.com/littlebalup/pyps3tools, the output logs will tell you if ROS0 and ROS1 have been patched. If so you can install CFW.

Another way is to load the Toolset and load the nofsm patch as if you were going to apply it again. Then you can compare the ROS0 hash, the ROS1 hash and the loaded patch hash, if the 3 hashes are identical, the patch has already been applied, if not, apply the patch using the context menu option, otherwise close the Toolset without applying the patch and install CFW.
