4.93 EVILNAT (Cobra 8.5)

PS3 4.93 Evilnat w/ Cobra v8.5 - (CEX/PEX/D-PEX) 4.93

That's a good question, i doubt they even support new PS3 game submissions anymore.
New games? Definitely not (and probably game devs are not insane enough to dive into SPU development again), but maybe they still accept bugfixes for existing games?
It might also be possible that Sony's CI automatically builds both CEX and DEX, so even if they are not offered to DECH units through PSN they might still exist on some internal Sony server.

Hallo,
i try to run a PS3 ISO Game (DL) but ì get an Error 80010017. I have try another Version but no Improvement.
How to fix it.

We cannot help you play pirated games. We will only help you play ISOs if you have created them yourself by using multiMAN or a compatible PC drive.

muy buen trabajo donde estaria la ps3 sin vosotros

Thx you for your work!

I got a japanese PS3 CECHA00 and want to play PAL PS2 games. Can i remove the region lock from the console with this CFW version?

Thats great :love heart:, in aspect of XMB layout in the past i've tried along with @sandungas to change the side menu color along with the green progress bar but we didn't came to any success as side menu color is somehow done by sprx and the progress bar have some green overlay created by sprx even if the image have been recolored is there any hope so we can mod them ?

I can take a look at both ;)
Well... probably is a bad timing to search for that misteries, but let me explain it incase you are motivated later on

In the XMB there is only 1 progress bar object, is the horizontal bar displayed when you install a .pkg or install a firmware, or in the hdd filesystem check screen, and all them are using the same images
We are used to see how the bar fills with green color (is a tiny squared image scaled in x axis along time), but the color we see in the screen is not the color of the real image, there is a .sprx applying some kind of math formula to the values of the RGBA pixels on runtime
We are 100% sure about that, and in the experiments we did we was close to figure the math formula (is just adding or substracting in every color channel)
Sony implemented this weird color management "on runtime by software" to the progress bar object because is the only way to include several progress bars of different colors in the firmware

Anyway... the easyest solution to this problem is to disable this "recolour" function, because this way the progress bars will have ther exact color we used in the little square image. In other words, without this "recolour" function we will have 100% control of the color
If you find how to disable it will be an improvement because right now is working as a restriction for graphic designers (we dont have control of that color) :encouragement:

-----------------------------
The "monthly colors" that appears in the right side menu of the theme settings (a vertical list with a lot of tiny squares with different colors) is made by software, that little squares are not images, are made with polygons + dropping a color in RGBA notation to the polygon
I was curious about that because i bet this exact color values used for the 12 months are identical to the color filter that affects many other parts of the XMB
So we was brainstorming about 2 different research paths... finding the colors of the little polygonal squares in the 12 months list... and finding where is applyed the color filter that affects many other parts of the XMB
I guess are 2 different things, very related, but different code functions... or maybe is the same thing and changing the colors of the polygonal squares in the 12 months list is going to affect the whole XMB, we are not sure

I remember @Louay was trying to change the general color filter of the whole XMB to a gold tone... to make a theme based on black + gold colors :)

Btw what's the easiest way to remove XMB entries? I'd like to remove a couple entries from the Game category like Vita Data management, Store, PS2 saves outside of VMC.

By modifying the .xml files from path: dev_flash/vsh/resource/explore/xmb/category_***.xml

The other day @narsil posted some suggestions to hide stuff
https://www.psx-place.com/threads/p...re-or-part-of-setting-menu.39773/#post-358023

For practising, i suggest you to do it in the same way he did, instead of deleting is better to enclose sections of it with <!-- hidden -->
This way is easy to restore it back incase you do some mistake (count with it )

If at some point, after working with it and being fully satisfyed with your changes... yeah you can delete them, in theory the xml file will be loaded faster to memory because it will be smaller

The entries are there multiple times in game and game2. I just find that weird. I guess i have to hide all of them?

Edit: Nvm i found it in the thread you linked. Thank you!

Hi, do you use the multi gameboot mod of the Ultimate Toolbox ? Since the CFW 4.89 I believe, the mod doesn't works with the PS3 games. It works fine with PS1 and PS2 games however.
It's very cool to have the boot animations of PS1 and PS2 ! It's remind me old time. :)

Otherwise, there is a possibility to start the PS3 in the "Game" column ? Because I start automatically in the PSN column.

Thank you. :)
And thank you again to the devs. You're amazing !

PLEASE What's the difference between PEX, D-PEX, DEX, and CEX?
And what each of them means?

CEX = Rebug Lite. All retail consoles are CEX. This is the normal mode.
PEX = Rebug REX. REX is CEX that can switch to DEX mode (debug mode for developers).
D-PEX = Rebug D-REX. Same as PEX but to be installed on consoles on DEX mode.
DEX = Same as D-PEX without CEX modules.

PEX means Ported DEX or DEX 4.84 ported to FW 4.90. PEX is not an official term.

REX and D-REX are unofficials terms for Rebug firmwares in CEX / DEX modes respectively.

Official firmware types are:
CEX = Consumer console firmware (CECH models).
DEX = Development firmware for Debug Station / AV Testing Tool (DECH models).
SEX = Shop firmware (limited features, mainly for exhibition)
GEX = Arcade firmware (GECR models)
DEH / DECR = Reference Tool (consoles with 512MB RAM instead of 256MB)

Can you help me?
I have console with OFW 3.55, which I used CFW 4.55 ROGERO, can I upgrade straight to CFW 4.90 Evilnat?

If you're on CFW (any version) you can upgrade to any other firmware with higher version of the same type (CEX or PEX in this case). If you already enabled QA flags, then your console will be able to upgrade or downgrade to any allowed firmware version (higher or equal than min fw version).

Never install OFW or HFW over CFW. They lose the ability to install CFW. You always should install CFW directly. If you installed OFW or HFW, you can install CFW again using Flash Writer 4.90

If for any reason you need to install OFW or HFW, instead use DB or DBH respectively. They will let you reinstall CFW when needed.

I think its safe to say that it would be interesting for @Evilnat to add the description of what each version of the CFW is just before the download considering the amount of questions about it that always happens lol
