4.93 EVILNAT (Cobra 8.5)

PS3 4.93 Evilnat w/ Cobra v8.5 - (CEX/PEX/D-PEX) 4.93

PEX offers some extra protection against online updates compared to CEX ?
Nope. PEX is basically a CEX / DEX hybrid that allows you to switch between the two. Just disable automatic updates in system settings and you should be fine.
Also after you've updated to Evilnat 4.91 you should be on the latest firmware as far as Sony is concerned so it should not offer you an online update until Sony (maybe) releases 4.92 in 2025.

Again great work evilnat!

a question about the trophy unlocker, when i start a game it says press l2 to open the menu but nothing happens when i press it. Am i doing something wrong ?

You can block update on any CFW in this option.

Here you update manually

Not yet, however i'm very eager to try @mysis new findings documented on the wiki and see what each one does :)
Evil uses still old and boring qa flag method with only 2 or 3 flags. There is a lot more flags documented now, so i wanna try them all.

I want to learn more about this, as the wiki just enumerates the different flags but there is no detailed description.

Hey thanks for your dedication and swift update to CFW 4.91. I am noticing a bug when using webMAN MOD v1.47.45 and 4.91 CEX. When I activate the show FPS screen (L3+R3) for webman the system crashes after around 15-25 seconds. I have found this older thread ( https://www.psx-place.com/threads/webman-mod-general-information-thread.9643/page-102 )

It describes the same issue I'm having and a suggested solution by aldostools. It does indeed not crash when setting 'showClockSpeeds: Off' for the XMB at this location; http://0/edit.ps3/dev_hdd0/tmp/wm_res/VshFpsCounter.yaml
I didnt notice this issue on 4.90 CEX with webMAN MOD v1.47.45

Anybody else can replicate this?

Thank you for the bug report. I uploaded a new build with `showClockSpeeds: Off` as you suggested.

It seems the code that gets the clock speed is not very stable in that plugin.

Sure amigo, I will contact you in a few hours ;)

QA Flag button combo only works on CEX mode, your PS3 must be CEX to do it, if you are on DEX you will be unable to do it

Ohhhh I know, I forgot to compile ps2gxemu_stage2.bin and ps2hwemu_stage2.bin on linux, maybe that is causing that issue because my Windows toolchain breaks them

EDIT: MEGA folder updated. I have updated the payloads, if you could check that PS2 discs work now I would appreciate it
It doesn't work the same as I already told you, I'm completely in the cex and it doesn't work

at this moment I disabled the qa flags and then I updated again with the qa flags disabled, once the update was finished I re-enabled the qa flags and restarted the console but the combination still doesn't work (I installed your cfw only CEX ( I have not installed [PEX] CEX but only CEX)

Have you ever changed the CID of the flash to something else permanently? For example with IDPSet

Do you have any plugin loaded besides webMAN MOD?

I have checked that QA Flags and button combo are working fine for me on CEX/PEX/D-PEX (CEX Mode)

Hai mai cambiato il CID del flash in qualcos'altro in modo permanente? Ad esempio con IDPSet

Hai qualche plugin caricato oltre a webMAN MOD?

I used ccapi to set the idps almost permanently in webman almost never except for those few times like 2, but since I updated the ps3 at the first start you have to reinstall webman mod for it to work, ccapi doesn't support 4.91 for now so I no longer have the cid changed, and webman mod I just installed it and I went to the browser if there is my IDPS working but it isn't there, I have nothing of the plugins loaded, so I don't know what to do

Could anyone tell me if @deank's sMAN works in CFW 4.91?

I haven't tested it, but It should work... since lv2 kernel 4.91 uses the same offsets of 4.75-4.89 with exception of 4.80 that was the kernel used for 4.90. Also it relies on Cobra/HEN payload which are updated for each FW version.

@Evilnat, the following info in the OP, can be deleted.

  • In PEX and D-PEX versión some of the debug options pressing triangle are missing because a/some
file/s hasn't been ported yet (needs a lot of research with XMB layouts, I have patched some of them
but others not, for example, trophies entries are messed up), those options are (maybe more):
    • ★ Check
    • ★ Owner Information
    • ★ Cancel Purchase
    • ★ Performance Bar
    • ★ No Memory Limit

You need to use BGToolset or PS3 Flash Writer if your PS3 is compatible with CFW, otherwise you need to use HEN, none are available yet

If you are on OFW 4.90 you can use it, if you are on OFW 4.91 you need to wait for BGToolset or an updated version of Flash Writer for 4.91

It should work with PS2 discs, can you check it please?
I have just downloaded and installed Evilnat CEX 4.91. Ps2 games does not work from disks. Just display black screen

I just tested on my CECHA01, both disk images and physical disks are working (limited testing as it is late here). D-PEX version.
- Physical Disk: Guitar Hero III - Legends of Rock
- Disk Image (WebMan Mod 1.47.45): God of War 1
I have tried couple of PS2 disks games PAL,all give me black screen.Evilnat CEX 4.91. PS3 CECHC03

If I remember correctly, I think that in order to load PS2 discs the PS3 must be CECHA or CECHB
