4.93 EVILNAT (Cobra 8.5)

PS3 4.93 Evilnat w/ Cobra v8.5 - (CEX/PEX/D-PEX) 4.93

Interestingly, grabbing this from REBUG didn't solve the problem. With CEX TargetID and CEX Kernel, playback worked. However, on any other configuration, the clock icon in the top right just continued to spin when trying to play a DVD.

Is your DVD title original or copied? and what region is it? DEX mode doesn't really have any region set and it won't like anything region-hard coded.

It's original, and region 2 (PAL). I don't think it's an issue, since it plays fine on REBUG DEX. I was just surprised that taking that file didn't solve the problem, like the other 3 did with Blu-ray. Was simply posting my findings :)

Here it is:
If everything works now but you still have problems playing the DVD, it may be due to a patch or if you have used the Region Tools options of xai_plugin (but I think not)

Fr same here on my slim I see no difference I have been carefully trying to find the eeprom superslim retail offsets for QA on my own but found nothing to change. Maybe I need to just give up on the constant compile and recompile through PSL1GHT.

Unrelated, but I think it would be a good idea to add a note in the description of the "Check File System" option, stating that the option won't work if "Improper Shutdown Warning" is set to Off.

The method used to call a file system check via xai/homebrews involves deleting a specific file named 'turnoff.' This action leads the system to believe it has experienced an improper shutdown (that's why the improper shutdown warning must be enabled), prompting the user to decide whether to perform a file system check.

Additionally, there is another method to directly trigger the 'check file system' process, although its flag has not yet been discovered.
but the screen shows when the file system is really damaged.

EDIT: There is a way to force it by creating a BackupRestoreState.dat file in the dev_hdd0, this was discovered by @Haxxen

/dev_hdd0/BackupRestoreState.dat -> force repair filesystem, but this file needs some additional "binary content" like "db.err", otherwise the hdd cannot be recognized and you are stuck if you do not delete this file via ftp. on the other hand, maybe this file gets created during filesystem repair, dunno

@Evilnat I don't know if this is possible or not, but I just had the idea of making the Check QA Flags option should whether advanced or basic flags are enabled, as opposed to just showing enabled.

having ps home back on the xmb is sick. @Evilnat have you thought of replacing the playstation network logo back to the og better one? i do that myself already through the dev bind rco thing, and the old logo was just so much better. that would finally make 4.91 perfect.

thank you for this amazing work ♥

any idea when will be the final version ? :)

is a way to update the French translation ? who is bad made unfortunatly, many technical names who have to stay in english only to make sense are translated when is no french translation for that.
Who result to an no sense when we try to found where to go in the firmware options.
to know where to push we need for that almost always look on english screenshots or videos in english to check the exact position in the menu where to go lol...

As if it was in chineese and we dont know to read chineese lol

Each beta is the "final version" until the next beta is released :D
You don't need to install them evertyime one is released unless you have issues or need one of the new features/bug fixes.

For the translation you can edit the XML that I attached and send it to Evilnat with the suggested corrections.
He will decide if include it or not.

Note: There are many RCO files that need translation, this is only on from explore_plugin_full.rco

@DeViL303 Wouldn't it be better to add the HDK version so the user doesn't need to use custom DNS?

Additionally, it would be interesting to add notes in the eula_cddb_plugin.rco stating that Brazilian accounts (and possibly others, I cannot recall at the moment) are not supported. This serves as another reason to utilize the HDK version, enabling users to spoof their region.

Edit: Even if it's added to the EULA, most users won't read it. I'm currently employing the HDK + Custom EULA + webMAN per title script in my mod to display a message regarding Brazilian accounts, instruction to use the 'change region option.' Despite this, users continue to complain about login issues. XD

I remember you editing the main screen of HOME, maybe it could be edited to provide all the info.

@Evilnat In the next version, could you consider adding the Audio Passthrough mod to the libaudio? It does currently break compatibility with the original Pulse, but it's a popular feature, especially on HEN. Alternatively, we could explore a better method, like the one I mentioned to you via X.

Also, a way to enable the Debug settings option in CEX vsh, just like if the QA combo is pressed, and the video settings in DEX vsh. I remember you patched it, but somehow didn't add it for some reason, right?

Hi everyone,
I am new here and would like to equip my two PS3 (fat & slim) consoles with this latest CFW.

Using the tutorials I was able to successfully install the hybrid firmware HFW 4.90 on both consoles. The exploit via ps3toolset is also successful and it also shows that both my PS3 consoles are CFW compatible.

However, if I now want to install CFW 4.91 from evilnat, the copying process from the USB stick starts successfully. But always at about 70% an error message "the data is corrupt (8002F957)" appears and the process is aborted (happens the same with both consoles).

Of course the USB stick is correctly formatted with FAT32 and MBR partition table, otherwise I would not have been able to install HFW 4.90 with it.

I have also tried different versions of the evilnat CFW's and also used different USB sticks, but always with the same error.

What am I doing wrong or where is the error?

It might sound like an obvious question, but did you actually use the Flash Memory Manager to patch your PS3 consoles' flash? This is the crux of the jailbreak process; installing HFW is not jailbreaking it, and does not allow immediate installation of CFW. In fact, on CFW-compatible models you could have just stayed on OFW and it would work just the same.

The PS3 Toolset having the green check mark simply indicates that your PS3 is compatible with CFW, not that it is ready for CFW to be installed. You might find this tutorial helpful, for how to go through the jailbreak process using bguerville's PS3 Toolset. Hope you find this helpful :)
