BETA 8 is still there.

There are not major issues in BETA 8. It can be used knowing that the features below were fixed in BETA 9
+ Fixed external kernel check when using the option [Swap Kernel] in PEX/D-PEX
+ Fixed random blackscreen while enabling QA Flags
+ Fixed 0×800299D2 error code and blackscreen (Blu-ray/DVD playback in CEX/DEX mode)

As aldostools said, It's still there, but note that if you intend to play Blu-Rays / DVDs on your PS3, better use the PEX version due to a bug in CEX / DEX (fixed in beta 9).
 
Hello I'm new in all this but can I ask for stuff? Well how good would be to play PS2 online? And also a way to spoof PSN region or something, I'm In a country were I can't log in to PSN, well that's it thanks

I assume you meant PS3... there were actually some PS2 online services but they're all long gone.

The PSN region is determined by the account, not the hardware. You just need to create an account and pick a country where the service is available. Note that you can't do that on the PS3 (the ability to create new accounts was removed a few years ago), so you need to do it on Sony's website or mobile app. After the account is created make sure to generate a PS3 device password. You should then be able to login to PSN no matter where you live.

Note that there might be issues buying stuff from the PS3 store or anything else that costs money - The store might not accept credit cards that are not from the account's presumed country. If that happens, the only way to work around it is to buy PSN gift cards from the country you've selected and redeem them on your PS3, so when creating an account check whether there's anyone selling that country's gift cards online. Gift cards are region locked.
 
I have a further question about the OC version of Evilnant.
It seems some people are able to get the overclock speeds to appear in the top left corner after pressing L3+R3.
It appears after the GPU: temp and then 600Mhz/750Mhz.
Although, I am unable to get this information to appear.
How is it done?
Note: They might not be using Evilnat's official OC version.

Oh and another question: Is there a way to get the FPS counter in the top left to display only in degrees instead of toggling between degrees and fahrenheit?

Use Network > Custom Firmware Tools menu to show that information. VshFpsCounter cause black screens or freeze when that information is displayed. Therefore I disabled it in the default VshFpsCounter.yaml found in /dev_hdd0/tmp/wm_res
 
I accidentally had my 4.90 Evil Nat updated to official 4.91 it didnt work so i had to re install official FW

Do I just literally install 4.91 evil nat like i would normally or do I have to go on the website again and do all that stuff? sory i forgot i did this for my friend and i forgot to turn off auto update

Unfortunately no. If you ended up with OFW you have to rerun the jailbreak again. You can use MrMario2011's videos for step by step instructions, it's not too difficult. Be sure to disable automatic updates so this doesn't happen again next year when (/if) 4.92 is released.
 
Hello everyone! i installed 4.91.2 BETA9 and can't figure out why multiman gets stuck on a black screen.(bluray drive works fine). also, can i downgrade from beta9 to 4.90 ?

Ok thanks for your reply but I have pointers about it, I meant the PS2 revival services of course, and about the account, my account is usa and never works ,people here put a PC through a VPN and gives the internet to the PS3, I also have a PSVita and Never logs in and I also don't got a PC to do the trick,that's why I was wondering and asking, I think Sony blocks my country, I dont know about other rare countries, but anyways thanks for the reply

If the issue is only with multiMAN it would be difficult to assist you, mainly because multiMAN is pretty much abandoned at this point and afaik no active member of the community has the source code. IRISMAN is the spiritual successor so you should try that. If the black screen happens there as well then people can help.

To downgrade, go to CFW Tools -> QA Tools and make sure the QA fag is toggled on, then you can downgrade to 4.90 (or any version higher or equal to the version your PS3 originally shipped with) by installing it like any system update.

I should add that i swapped some bd drives around 2 ps3`s (both K series, one on cfw 4.91 beta9 with multiman, the other is on 4.91 ofw) and in the ofw-ps3 both drives work, but in the cfw-ps3 only one of the drives works. It did seem to be a bdrive issue after all, sort of...
 
@Evilnat I found that installing D-PEX/DEX after formating the system/hdd change is setting the NP environment to invalid, is there a way to set it to "np" as default?

Also the target ID is debug as default, i think it should be retail, otherwise most of the users will not understand why they can't log in into PSN, use the update system via internet, use the what's new section and etc.

So my suggestions on DEX are:

1. "np" as the default environment.
2. Retail target ID as default.
3. When converting to DEX it automatically swith the kernel to dex leaving the option to use CEX only via the xai option. (Also setting the target ID to Retail as default)
4. Do not use the game_ext_plugin.sprx dex as it breaks the PSPlus upload feature. I don't remember the differences between the dex and cex one, maybe it's related to NP debug option

Edit: It's a minor thing, but when the DEX/CEX debug settings is changed, the notifications say to reboot the system to apply the settings, it can be removed, the debug settings are changed on the fly, there is no need for a reboot.

@Evilnat, I just compared your libaudio.sprx patch with the one we use, "Audio Pass-through," and it's the same.

Looking at your description:

May create conflicts with DUALSHOCK 4 controllers among other minor issues, use with caution"

it seems like a completely different patch. The patch just allows the game audio to be redirected to the chat mono audio channel so it can be played on BT devices and via USB. In your description the user understands that it is some kind of an extended support for third party bt devices that was not supported before.
 
@Evilnat, it appears the TrophyUnlocker still isn't working. I enabled the plugin from COBRA Tools, loaded Tomb Raider Underworld, pressed the PS button, then L2… I got the message about pressing L2 to open the menu, and R2 to unlock all trophies. However, pressing either button doesn't do anything at all! I tried from in-game, as well as the in-game XMB. I tried spamming the buttons, holding them, etc and still nothing.
 
Hello, I wanted to know if the Evilnat variant of the OC Beta 8 uses the 600/750 variant? Im looking for that as id figured its the safest options for my PS3, id appreciate your response!
 
Hello, just wanted to ask if people are able to run PS2 retail discs or ISOs through webmanMOD on the latest 4.91.2 BETA9. On my non-retrocompat PS2 FAT I just get a black screen that I cannot get out of.

(very similar problem with PSP games)

I have it working on another slim with an older evilnat's cfw release I installed last year (slowly, sure, bad emulator, but works)

Am I missing some critical button I am not pressing in the CFW menu, cobra?
Is this something related to 4.91.2? Should I just downgrade?

Only PS3 fat models with semi or full backward PS2 compatibility can play PS2 retail discs. They play directly from XMB without additional applications.

You can use PS2 ISO or encrypted PS2 ISO (PS2 Classics format .BIN.ENC) on any firmware version with Cobra.

webMAN MOD only mounts the game. The rest is done by Cobra and the official system files.

Some PS2 games require an additional CONFIG file to improve the compatibility. In the case of PSP, the compatibility is poor.
