4.93 EVILNAT (Cobra 8.5)

PS3 4.93 Evilnat w/ Cobra v8.5 - (CEX/PEX/D-PEX) 4.93

Can I ask something? I am on beta 15 and I realised that I cannot access webman mod, from my phone by putting the IP address. I access the internet as always, so it's not something from the PS3 hardware, i suppose.

Webman is on its last version, updated through the menu

Try setting the PS3 DNS to the static ip address of your router that way it won't have to look outside of the LAN, ISP WAN DNS tend to go down all the time, google & amazon DNS being the most reliable alternatives.

The PS3 and your phone must be connected on the same LAN or put the PS3 in a DMZ which is not recommended.

I am on beta 15 Pex, and when loading PS2 ISOs from my external ex-fat drive, I get a black screen. The console freezes and restarts twice, and there is no image on screen, although it's still on. Is this a bug with the firmware? Is there any chance I can downgrade to an older one without losing data?

Hope y'all are doing well.

I've been meaning to transition to CFW 4.91 at some point and have been holding off until there is a finalized, non-BETA version of the CFW. I understand it has undergone a lot of work ever since it was first released. I'm currently on 4.90 CEX and haven't experienced any issues. May I ask if there will be a CEX version of 4.91 at some point or should I stay on CEX 4.90? I'd be grateful for your input and insights as always.

I think it's more semantics.

You can install 4.91. It is in BETA because the firmware is still being improved with features and patches over time, but that doesn't mean it is incomplete or has bugs.

It'll probably be in perpetual beta from now on. Evilnat seems to have switched to agile development.

The 4.91 "non-Beta" will probably only exist when evilnat release the first 4.92 and yet the "final" 4.91 may still be called "BETA xx (whatever the version it will be at the time)".

I have a ps3 slim 2004a, I updated from beta 14 cex to beta 17 pex. When I insert the cd from the ps2, the console recognizes the disc, starts loading and freezes with a black screen. After that, it can only be turned off by long pressing the power button

Your PS3 model is not backwards compatible with PS2 discs, you can only load it on ISO

Why exactly is that though?
How many ps3 games come pressed on dvds or dvd-9 instead of bluray?
My ps3 drive can still read the ps2 disc contents just as a ps3 disc instead, it can still dump the disc if it doesn't have too many scratches with the dvd laser, same as it can read ps1 discs, the only thing I slightly remember is Sony having some licensing issuse with super audio cd or dual disc so is it a hardware issuse or software?

lacks the hardware for it.

The software emulator does not have any drivers for the disc drive, with no source code for the emulator we can only make small changes so the drivers cant be added.

yeah, the ps3 has three ps2 emulators: one for full bc, one for just the gpu, and one for full software based. depending on how old the system is, you might have one of the first two, but a 2K console is software only. you have to use the netemu version of the emulator. sony was supposedly going to add software emulation into the system without having to rebuy games, which was called softemu. however, I guess they got greedy and scrapped it in favor of netemu or basically the ps2 classics emulator.

It's not really a hardware limitation that stops software emulators reading discs as far as I know, IF they had of included drivers then it could read PS2 discs and have the same compatibility as PS2 Classics / ISOs. They would have needed to read the emulator config file from somewhere else though.
