Guys, I'm new to this homebrew stuff on PS3, just bought CECHA with HW BC for PS2 and installed 4.91.2 EVILNAT (Cobra 8.5). Everything happened smoothly but I've got some questions:

I've installed webman from usb flash drive (mbr/fat32), no problem. But when I connected my external drive (mbr/ntfs) with battlefield3.pkg (12+gb) it doesn't see this pkg file, I had to go into webman, copy this pkg file on console hdd and then I was able to install it.

I have the same :-). So the PS3 naturally reads fat32 strorage for xmb use. There is apps that can naturally support are webman/multiman/irisman that have ntfs/exfat abilities. From xmb use it needs to be fat32 only for video, photos, music, update pups, and packages. Hope this helps clarify.
 
Does anyone have any idea why the file explorer /package installer has disappeared from the game section on the dashboard and I have restarted the system like 5 times and I still can't figure out what happened to it. I have a Ps3 slim running

Did you installed something that modifies the XMB?
 
Wish they could tweak at least the Psx and Ps2 emulators to allow a 60fps mod, that would be something , or implement a free solution that can do that overall, like the Lossless scaling on pc.

Few ideas: A better improved web broswer that loads most sites and can download almost all would be amazing. Kinda like a WebMaf exploit or something. Just odd something for an proper improvement hasn't been done yet. Even native exfat/ntfs support instead of standard fat32 for all areas of xmb/system use. I mean these are CUSTOM made Firmwares with custom abilities. Also what of Cell overclock? Apply available mod (if any mod) to a soft reboot of a bootloader that is locked. Mod should load over a soft reboot with locked bootloader. I have done this on cell phones. Just an idea of course. Not saying will actually work on ps3 but it could if not been attempted yet. It could help for any mod that can't be done because of bl lock. This may be a work around.

I will say if able to be done, I ask for these to be included in next update please. These would definitely be amazing features. Maybe also other os++ support for Hardware acceleration from rsx (if true of ability). Thank you again for all. Amazing what there is so far.

i updated through usb. my system is still showing '4.91' everywhere and not 4.91.2. do i need to update one more time or through safe mode? or am i good. its not showing when i press select and start on the xmb top right either

The ps3 will show only the official firmware number, if you updated to 4.91.2 you are all set don't worry about it
 
Just wondering if it would it be possible to have an option to turn on V-sync for PS3 games, there are loads of games suffering from that horrible screen tearing, I don't know how they released them like that back in the days.
 
@Evilnat for me on latest cfw I cannot do a system file check with cfw advanced power options/ service tools. It reboots console, but no file check is done. Not sure if a bug or what but I thought I'd bring it up if a fix for possible next update if there is one.

Check if the "improper shutdown warning" option in Debug settings is enabled, if not, that's the cause.

Thank you, for some reason I didn't see that think to look for improper shutdown. I would like your post but as usual my account seems to never get fixed from issues it has. So odd but it is what it is
 
Its been a while...so just wanted to double check (apologies as im probably the 1000th person to ask) - im currently on 4.80 firmware running EvilNat/Cobra 8.40 compatible? - i noticed on the front page theres 4 different versions of the firmware...not sure which one i need - mines a cech2503a.

Edit - ok all done....i did go looking on you tube and a yt'ber had the all in one file which i flashed straight over top all good.!

I tried posting back on Friday but didnt show my post until today. Idk why my account is being odd. Noob features all around.

Anyway I was going throught cfw settings - fan settings for ps2 and noticed lowest is sycon or 40%. I was wondering if you could add a 30%, and 35%?. WebMan works fine for these %'s, but only for iso's. Cfw settings-fan settings get applied to both iso's and pkg's from what I tested. With out cfw fan settings pkgs can make the ps3 yell at you with beeps and loud fans suddenly while having a techo dance party with power led.

Be much appreciated if these two gan settings can be added. Thanks again :-)

On the first try, I got an error: "Cannot dump Metldr." But on the second attempt, it dumped Metldr just fine. Thanks, Nat!
