5.05 vs 9.00 in Feb 22.

Hello Guys!

I recently got a PlayStation 4 slim 1TB running 5.05, is it still recomended to stay at this fw? Because in terms of game compatibility at this point it is really hard to find backports for games like FIFA22. Are there any automated tools out there? Like some sort of python script that modifie

I would stay at it, 9.00 is very stable but what if cfw like exploit comes out that only work on 5.05 if you really want 9.00 i would buy one that is on that firmware because its very difficult to go back to 5.05

99% of YouTuber's do not know what they are talking about.

5.05 is a bit more stable then 9.00 but they are both fairly stable.

The first question someone must ask if they are asking this,
Is there something i need on 9.00 that does not work on 5.05.?
If you do not know, don't update as there is nothing your missing if you do not know what it is.

If there something that you need 9.00 for. then decide if that is worth it to update or not.

Then you have your answer.

If your going to be doing the same thing from 5.05 as you would on 9.00 then i would not update. Let there be a reason to update and not just updating because you can. You can ALWAYS update but you can not downgrade.

Your 2nd edit is exactly what I wanted to say. I suggested updating to 9.00 in this guy's case because he wants to play new games. I don't base my knowledge on random youtubers. It's not worth looking for backports or backporting yourself if all you want to do is play new games.

Various games can be backported, Though it does get more difficult, but to say its just for developer's is wrong because MOST can do everything on 5.05 as they can o 9.00.

Your comment suggested he should not be on 5.05 as its just for devs when many would suggest staying on 5.05 UNLESS there is a reason to update.


Point is you update when there is a reason to do so, Not because someone else has an opinion on backported games which may or may not intrest the user. I mention most YouTubers because that is where most of the false information about the community is coming from. In his case is playing FIFA 22 enough for him to update, only he knows this.. Saying 5.05 is only for devs is really just wrong. 9.00 might be the best route for him, but lets give him the right information to make that decision and not guess details or form it around an opinion but rather facts.
