PS3 60/Unlock FPS Patches

Which Console are you inquiring about?

Out of curiosity, how did you find the FPS limiter value? Did you use 'What accesses this address' in CE or a signature scan? Would love to learn the process.
 
Joey, I just wanna say you are awesome. I'm new to PSX-Place and I'm gonna try these patches soon.

Not sure what direction you're going in for choosing games to patch, but it would be awesome if you could try create more patches for true PS3 exclusives that still aren't really playable elsewhere (outside of RPCS3/emulation).

I love that games like Folklore, Resistance 3, and Siren: Blood Curse have already gotten FPS patches.

Would love to eventually see games like Yakuza: Dead Souls, the MotorStorm series, God of War: Ascension, or maybe even the inFAMOUS series or Drakengard 3 get similar treatment if possible. A lot of them still struggle pretty hard performance-wise on original hardware.

Anyways, keep it up! Also thank you to Nuno for testing a bunch of these :cheerful:

Long story short:
- I watched this:
- Then I tested the RPCS3 cheat codes on the PS3 hardware.
- Once I had a list of RPCS3 codes that worked and tried to understand how/why.
- Finally at this point I had a basic understanding and started to develop my own patches

Is anyone interested in adding this to Artemis cheat files?

If anyone has free time, it would be as easy as editing the text files on my GitHub repository, then I can update them and the codes will be available to everyone using Artemis

R&C Nexus felt so weird at 30fps when I played it some years ago since I was used to the 60fps ones. This gives me a reason to play it again.
By the way, Lollipop and Bulletstorm videos are on the way. Bulletstorm has the 62fps cap many Unreal Engine 3 titles have.
 
I've just pulled my PS3 out of the storage and I'm interested to see if I can use the 60fps patches for the batman games! This is really interesting. Thanks.

Yah it's 2026 and PS3 games are still getting patched :D
All patches tested and working on the real hardware.

Generally speaking they will remove the 30fps software lock coded inside the game and the framerate will be limited by your PS3 hardware:
* Expect: Screen tearing, high framerate fluctuations, instabilities, higher CPU/GPU temps, lower hardware lifespan. So use them at your own risk :) Also your millage may vary due to silicon lottery & overclock.
* Don't expect: Stable locked smooth 60fps

I did some 60fps patches and found that some of the games you have listed don't work, ratchet and clank doesn't work at all from my testing, lollipop chainsaw doesn't work at all, still locks to 30fps.

Here is my repo on GitHub with working patches, gathered this data using the RPCS3 patches and checking them one by one for 3 weeks straight.

RPCS3 patches work if you use the ones from memory, the other variants don't work at all. That is what I found throughout my testing. Some codes don't work at all on even the emulator. Uncharted 3 is an example where it doesn't work for either the console or emulator and I verified the version of the game I was using.
 
Are you sure you are using the correct game title ID and the correct game version for the patch? Can you share which game versions you are using?
Plus for the Ratchet and Clank games you have to apply the patch whilst in the main game menu, it's in the notes!

I double checked everything, the Deadpool one I got down to just 3 lines of code, if you use all 8 bytes in some cases it will crash, that is something I noticed. For Ratchet and Clank I did in menu and in game, maybe it is a bad dump or something not sure. But I have worked to shrink a lot of the code down so you don't need 8 bytes for each line, in some cases all you need is one byte

I'll go through your codes and see if I can manage to get some working, the Nexus one I managed to get working now, it works for most versions, not limited to the EU, it only needs 69a553 01, the other line you had doesn't seem to change anything in game

Btw feel free to add some of mine, I have some codes that are not in your list
