PS3 A new Front-end for PS3 MAME 0.125 by comango

Here is some news in the PS3 emulation front. Some of you may recall PS3 MAME 0.125 from developer Ole, Its a good MAME port for the PS3, personally prefer I MAME 0.78 (aka MAME 2003) in RetroArch but that is not to take away the from this great MAME port that ps3 developer Ole, which was lacking a nice frontend .Well now a developer over at Torgua-Cove that goes by the handle comango , created this very nice Frontend for the emulator as you can see from the pictures below this frontend adds alot to this emulator. You can see the pics below and also see the video below of the original version. As you can see this new frontend differs and does add some new eye-candy to this MAME port..

    Hi there,

    I've made another MAME-port with frontend. It's based on MAME 0.125.

    Create a folder name "MAME" on /dev_hdd0 or /dev_usb000. Then create three subfolders, "ROMs", "snap" and "samples". Copy your files there.

    Root internal
    • dev_hdd0 / MAME / ROMs
    • dev_hdd0 / MAME / samples
    • dev_hdd0 / MAME / snap

    Root external

    • dev_usb000 / MAME / ROMs
    • dev_usb000 / MAME / samples
    • ]dev_usb000 / MAME / snap
    • and iso/DVD

    dev_dbvd/PS3_GAME/USRDIR/
    ------------------------ROMs
    ------------------------samples
    ------------------------snap

    you can create an .iso emulator or burn it to DVD and run the roms from these.
    Note: you must run the emulator on the XMB (the .pkg) packages and select the route dev_dbvd / PS3_GAME / USRDIR / (iso/DVD) to load roms mounted .iso or DVD, because if you run it directly from the .iso or dvd it digs.

    sorry for my bad english

    Edit:
    you can also manually edit the path in the Init.ini file (MAME00125/USRDIR/Init.ini), to avoid duplication with other arcade roms emulators, but the MAME / ROMs route must always be ptresent for this emulator, eg:

    isodir = / dev_ms / ROMS / fba / MAME
    isodir = / dev_sd /
    isodir = / dev_hdd0 /
    isodir = / dev_usbXXX /
    isodir = / dev_cf /
    A Look at MAME 0.125 (RUNNING WITHOUT THIS FRONT-END)

Thanks for added info. i Seen your post there at elotroado (thought it was a repost), but missed the Images in the spoiler (thought biteyourconsole had those) . But i did not notice the screens in the spoiler (missed the spoiler all together as they usually wont work on google translator)...

Added source and info.. Sorry about that.

I always try to source everything properly I thinks very important to do...You did the compile correct or was that included in the dev original DownLoad? All the DL links were a pain for me so was hard to see what was what, in terms of the source code and compile package..
.

Anybody else getting a 8001003C error and being booted back to the XMB?

I looked at the EBOOT.BIN with multiMAN's hex viewer, and there's a reference to FIXX00123, but the program installs to MAME00125. Every game's EBOOT I looked at has a reference to the directory to where it installs to. Maybe that's causing the error?

I can't load the SELF from multiMAN either, it must be a signing issue. Anybody else having problems?

I have not had time to give it a test yet. Holidays and site has had me busy..

What firmware are you on?

MAME frontend

Hi folks,

I just noticed my frontend has experienced some attention, so I registered here to give you a link to a package that contains the frontend discussed above along with the snapshot folder, a readme explaining the usage AND the source code. BTW, I'm running FW 4.65 (HABIB) v1.02.

Have fun and MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone

I'm far from being a "ps3 pro coder" so, it runs on my system, maybe it really is a signing problem, sorry about that. Maybe resigning the EBOOT.BIN and the RELOAD.SELF helps?

EDIT:
There was a wrong content id in the makefile. try these. I'm gonna recompile everything and reupload later...

EDIT2:
recompiling done. link is in my post above ;) Sorry for the mess. ...and for the messy source code.

comango Thanks :)

-------------

If anyone can provide a mirror i will upload here and provide some other mirrors. That host does not like me.. Says i reach my max download for this hour and i havent downloaded anything,

I'm on OFW 3.41 + TI-84+ (yeah, I know, but I've haven't had a reason to upgrade), but for the last year or two, homebrew has been released that runs on pretty much any CFW, so I've never really had a problem with stuff not being signed correctly. Of course, back in the 3.55 and early 4.xx CFW days, this was a different story.

There's probably some option that needs to be set when compiling for use on (nearly) all CFW, maybe some other guys who compile PS3 homebrew could help you there.

Great Front end

Thanks for the zip. I would have never figured out the snap structure based on bewology and all other posts that use the name read me vs your read me file. Although I had created my own clrmame pro dat file and build a rom set already. Perhaps that should be posted somewhere in text.

Also, one read me says there is a scan lines setting.

Would you be able to share how to set scan lines and any other variables?

Thanks.

The new package is still giving me a 8001003C error, and I still can't run the SELF from multiMAN. The EBOOT refers to the correct installation folder, though, so it's a signing issue. STLcardsWS has done some compilation, I believe, perhaps he can tell you what options to set when compiling.

EDIT - 8001003C error refers to wrong sys_load_param, according to Error Codes - PS3 Developer wiki. Changing this to a lower number (like 3.40) before compilation of EBOOT/SELF files fixes this. Maybe that's the issue?
